Meet Catherine and her Daughter, Anna – two of the many faces of Ocean Grove!
Catherine was fully independent living in assisted living just 2 years ago, going shopping, and cooking while living alone – after a serious fall Anna and her brother were left to make a difficult decision about their mother’s care plan. After searching all over, they landed on Complete Care at Ocean Grove – For Anna, “it just made the most sense” she lives 2 blocks away and knew it this location would be easy for her to come visit but also the atmosphere really stood out to her. “When I first toured, I was impressed, the floors were gleaming, the people that worked here smiled, a lot – I felt good about that. And it always smelt good”
While the transition into skilled nursing was emotional, Anna was pleasantly surprised by how beautifully Catherine adapted. The social environment, the activities, and the music have brought out the best in her. “Everything I like,” Catherine shared. “The people, the food, the aroma.” Anna added “I was happy, so happy at her progress here. My mom was very reluctant at first and it was a scary change, but it brought me peace to see her thrive and gave me comfort in knowing my brother and I made the right decision.”
When we asked what she’d say to a neighbor considering Complete Care at Ocean Grove, Anna laughed; “Funny enough, I do have a neighbor asking me, I tell them all the time how much my mom truly thrives from the activities, the music, the bingo and how it truly is the best place for her.”
Over the past couple years, Complete Care at Ocean Grove has grown to mean so much to Anna and her family personally – “I feel like when I come here, I know people, I smile, they smile back they know my name and I know there’s, its like a little family – it really is, its very intimate, its not like a corporation or anything like that”
Stories like Anna and Catherine's happen everyday in our community, these two are a great reminder that behind every room and every care plan is a family, a journey, and community that connects us. We are never alone when making these difficult decisions.
