Transitioning from bottles and purées to solid foods is a big step in your baby’s development, but it can also come with a lot of questions! Every child moves at their own pace, but if your little one is having a hard time moving past purées, it might be time to look a little closer at what’s holding them back. Feeding therapy helps support safe chewing, swallowing, and confidence during mealtimes, so eating becomes fun, not frustrating. 💛

Congratulations to our sweet Laura Kate for attaining her certification in primitive reflex training!đź©·

Primitive reflexes are automatic movements babies are born with that support early development, usually fading within the first year. When these reflexes remain active, they can affect learning, coordination, and behavior. Through targeted movement exercises, Primitive Reflex Integration Therapy helps the brain form new neural connections, improving control and organization of movement. At Lori Kilpatrick Pediatric Therapy, a Certified Primitive Reflex Clinical Specialist provides individualized assessments and treatment plans to support your child’s growth.

Common signs of retained reflexes include coordination issues, poor posture, reading or handwriting struggles, and sensory sensitivities. If you suspect your child may have retained reflexes, contact our office for a comprehensive evaluation!

Does your child avoid certain textures or get frustrated with clothing, food, or toys? Tactile processing could be the root cause of this, and these challenges are common. But through targeted sensory activities, occupational therapy helps children explore and tolerate different textures, build hand strength, improve coordination, and feel more confident handling everyday tasks!

We’re so excited to start a new series where we share some of our favorite children’s books that support speech, language, social, and emotional development! We are kicking off this series with social and emotional books that are perfect for helping little ones understand big feelings, friendships, and self-regulation. 💛

- The Impatient Dinosaur: great for kids learning patience and self-control.
