We love using this activity for so many reasons in therapy!

Sitting upright on the scooter builds core strength, while pulling the rope works on bilateral coordination (using both hands together for everyday tasks like utensils, scissors, and getting dressed), along with upper body strength and motor planning, all in one!

Plus, it doubles as “heavy work,” a sensory activity that helps calm and regulate the nervous system before transitioning to seated tasks like handwriting or coloring 🤍

Blowing bubbles might look simple… but it’s doing so much more 🫧 This activity helps children build breath control for speech, strengthen oral motor muscles, and improve coordination needed for clear sounds!

All of these skills play a big role in how speech develops and how clearly children are able to communicate. In therapy, we use activities with purpose, because children learn best when they’re engaged and enjoying what they’re doing ☺️

This week, we are celebrating two very special patients who are moving on after years of therapy with us. Both of these children came to our clinic as babies, and it has been such a privilege to watch them grow over the years. From those early developmental milestones to where they are today, their progress has been incredible. Watching this kind of growth over time is one of the most rewarding parts of pediatric therapy. We are so proud of these amazing kids and thankful their families allowed us to be part of their journey. We can't wait to see all the wonderful things ahead for them!

Good oral rest posture starts early: lips closed, tongue on the roof of the mouth, and breathing through the nose. These small habits support healthy sleep, feeding, and facial development as children grow.

Silas is working on dynamic balance, core strength, bilateral coordination, motor planning, and vestibular processing – all while having fun on roller skates. Occupational Therapy can help kids integrate retained reflexes, such as Moro and ATNR, so they can move confidently and safely!
