So, โ€œcheapโ€ becomes very expensive over time, and โ€œfastโ€ actually becomes โ€œneverโ€.

I do understand that sometimes people cannot see themselves at a weight I set, but I see it, and I have been doing this successfully for a very long time. My job is not to get you to a weight that you want to be if that weight is still overweight; itโ€™s not to get you to the โ€œslimmest Iโ€™ve ever beenโ€ if that is still overweight. My job is to get you to the weight I know you must be โ€” so I can put you through stabilization and maintenance programs to give you the best chance of never being overweight again. If you have 50 pounds to lose but only want to lose 30, this is not the program for you.

The process of changing oneโ€™s eating and lifestyle habits must include the process of owning up to why you are where you are, taking responsibility for your actions, and taking the โ€œvictimโ€ and โ€œblameโ€ cards out of your deck. Both those cards donโ€™t โ€œplayโ€ well with me. And if you canโ€™t handle hearing โ€œCut the crapโ€ when itโ€™s relevant, youโ€™re not the right client for me.

My experience is that those who think they โ€œknow it allโ€ when it comes to weight loss simply because theyโ€™ve been dieting forever are also those who are unwilling to be open-minded about a new way of doing things. Theyโ€™re full of โ€œI canโ€™tsโ€ and โ€œI wonโ€™tsโ€ in terms of what they canโ€™t do and/or wonโ€™t eat or drink (excluding allergies and medical issues, of course), or wonโ€™t give up. Theyโ€™ll throw the money at me and think that because they โ€œjoinedโ€ the program, thatโ€™s the same as โ€œdoingโ€ the program. If this is you, save your money. This is the wrong program for you.

We have about 25 trillion red blood cells that affect every other cell in the body.

They carry cholesterol and nitric oxide through the cardiovascular system โ€” influencing blood vessel elasticity and oxygen delivery.

In one study, scientists gave 10 healthy, active men either a super-high-fat milkshake (fat calibrated to their body weight) or a low-fat calorie-matched version.

Just 4 hours later? The high-fat groupโ€™s red blood cells had shrunk and grown spikes โ€” turning them into tiny wrecking balls that damage blood vessels and lay the groundwork for heart disease.

The good news: The damage is largely reversible within about 8 hours โ€” unless that one fatty meal is followed by another . . . and another.

Healthy levels of salt in the body helps keep our blood pressure under control and ensures that our muscles and nerves function properly.

However, our kidneys have trouble processing excess sodium, causing our bodies to retain water. That puts more pressure on blood vessels and makes more work for the heart. This can lead to high blood pressure (a leading cause of cardiovascular disease), heart attack, and stroke, among other things.
