We need to talk about the Epstein files and what they mean for massage therapy.

The term "massage" has historically been used as a cover for s*xual exploitation and that abuse shapes how the public views our profession.

But this is not just history.
Human trafficking under the guise of massage is ongoing.

And the harm spills over onto licensed massage therapists, who are are educated, regulated healthcare providers.

We face harassment, s*xualization, and unsafe work conditions because of narratives created by trafficking and high profile abuse cases like Epstein’s.

This abuse disproportionately targets women, but it does not stop there. Therapists of all genders are harassed and violated by the same distorted assumptions about our work and our bodies.

Professionals are also constantly faced with the added layer that exploitation warps expectations around cost.
When massage is framed as cheap, transactional, or s*xual, it devalues massage as skilled, individualized, preventative healthcare and harms the people who provide it.

Save or share if you think we need to be educating the public more that those innuendo jokes do more than devalue the hard work it takes to be a massage professional—it actively keeps the s*x and human slave trade operating within public view.

I hear this all the time:
"I wish I started sooner."
"I’ve needed this so badly."
"I should’ve been coming the whole time."

And honestly? I’m always so glad you’re here, whether it’s your first massage at 38 weeks or your fifth this month. Showing up for your body at any point in pregnancy is meaningful. 🤍

That said, I see a lot of first-time prenatal clients when their bodies are already in full burnout mode: heavy, uncomfortable, exhausted, not sleeping well, and hoping one session can undo months of tension. While massage can absolutely help in that moment, pregnancy is such a rapid, demanding process that bodywork tends to be most supportive when it’s part of the whole journey.

Starting earlier gives us time to build trust, learn what your body needs, and support you through the changes as they’re happening. The goal is to prevent some of that burnout before it builds up.

I know there are real barriers to starting sooner, and there’s no judgment here. This is just a gentle reminder: your body deserves support before it’s running on empty.

🌸 If you’re early in your pregnancy and thinking, “I’ll wait until I really need it” — this is your sign that needing support doesn’t have to mean waiting until you’re burnt out. 🌸

When I say I hate tags... I really, really mean it.

Anyone else have a visceral revulsion of tags on towels, sheets, blankets, etc?

It's so satisfying to rip them out! 😂😂

I know I'm not the only one but I am definitely guilty of time blindness in my sessions sometimes... 🫣

As someone who works ✨️very✨️ slowly, a lot of people are surprised at how long I can spend unwinding tension out of their body. And one of the biggest obstacles I face professionally is the idea that 60 minutes is enough for a full body session. Especially when massage is treated like a crisis management or once-in-a-while fix to chronic pain patterns.

It's the reason 90 minute sessions are my most popular option with clients who want the head-to-toe experience without sacrificing deeply therapeutic relief.

There was a time in my career 60 minutes felt like an eternity. Now, after much growth, experience, and wisdom, I often end 2 hour sessions feeling like I could keep going.

The body is SO cool and helping your nervous system heal is such an honor. Let's spend more time together this year. Book your session directly from the link in my bio and see how that extra time adds up to feeling your best! 🖤🪷

Massage therapy is often labeled a luxury because it feels good, and in Western healthcare anything that feels good is often treated as unnecessary.

But healthcare shouldn't be defined by discomfort. It should be defined by whether it supports how the body functions.

Research shows that skilled massage therapy can reduce stress, support pain regulation, and help balance the nervous system.

Reducing stress is not trivial. Chronic stress is linked to cardiovascular disease, immune dysfunction, chronic pain, sleep issues, and hormone disruption. A nervous system that never downshifts places real strain on the body.

Supporting stress regulation is preventative care. Holistic health is still healthcare. Massage is medicine.

Lets me know what you think!
