Who's ready to sweat a little? Join Dr O'Brien & West Orlando Pediatrics at the 18th Annual Run for the Gift @ Southwest Aquatics November 8! This terrific program directly benefits West Orange County's underprivileged, physically, and mentally handicapped children by assisting with swim lessons. More swim education = fewer preventable childhood deaths.
We would love to see your smiling faces there!

The Run for the Gift is on Saturday November 8, 2025. It includes the following events: 5K Run/Walk, 8:15 Free Kids Run - Not chip timed! (30 Yards in Parking Lot), and 5k Run with Free Aquatica Tickets (first 100).

Hey folks! Just a reminder, we are open Saturday October 11 for flu shots! We recommend the flu shot for nearly every child from 6 months and beyond. If it's too tough to come in during the week, give us a call to join us on a rare Saturday morning in the office :-)

Spotlight on... Nikki! Many of you may not see Nikki on a regular basis, but you (or your insurance company) has almost certainly spoken with her over the phone. Nikki joined West Orlando Pediatrics in 2023 and she works tirelessly on the stuff we all dread: fighting with insurance on behalf of the office and your children. Her work is indispensable in reducing headaches and smoothing out the delicate dance we must perform with payors.
Nikki is an avid reader, reading over 200 books a year. Her favorite author is JR Ward. She also objectively has the best manicure in the office at any given time!

Hey folks! Flu season is upon us. We have plenty of flu vaccines available, and will be hosting a Saturday flu vaccine clinic: October 11th. If you would like your child to get the flu vaccine and don't want them to miss school, call soon to get an appointment on the books for then. New this year, we can vaccinate parents as well!

Hey folks! Does you think your child has a penicillin allergy? West Orlando Pediatrics now has the ability to safely administer penicillin allergy testing in office. 49 of 50 patients labeled with a penicillin allergy are either incorrectly labeled or they have outgrown the allergy by the time of testing. De-labeling is important as the penicillin class of antibiotics is used for the first-line treatment of many infections, and can re-open treatment to those antibiotics, sparing the harsher / more broad-spectrum antibiotics for resistant infections.
