𝐄𝐇𝐕-𝟏/𝐄𝐇𝐌 & 𝐇𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬
We strongly advise all horses returning from events with known EHV-1/EHM cases to undergo a minimum two week quarantine accompanied by taking and recording your horse(s) temperature twice a day in a physical ledger (A re**al temperature of >101.5 is of concern).
𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐰𝐞 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐨𝐟:
- 377 Arena in Stephenville, TX
- WPRA Finals
- BFA at Lazy E Arena
- Rope Horse Futurity events and locations
𝐄𝐃𝐈𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐓𝐎 𝐀𝐃𝐃: We have no confirmed cases at any rope horse futurity events. We are just exercising precautions, and want all potentially exposed horses and owners to be as safe as possible! We encourage all attendants to follow quarantine and isolation protocols!
𝐈𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 & 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐞:
All horses returning from events with known EHV-1/EHM cases should follow a strict isolation protocol. Clothes should be changed after handling these horses, or disposable PPE should be worn.
- At least 30 feet away from any other horse
- No nose to nose contact with other horses
- No sharing of buckets, tack, pitch forks, halters and lead ropes, etc.
- Disinfect trailers, ties and all communal items or spaces.
Please ensure all organic material is removed from surfaces to ensure your cleaning solutions are able to be completely effective!
Our SEH Team is monitoring the situation and communicating with other veterinarians and clinics across Texas and neighboring states.
