Scam Alert: Warrant Calls and Messages 🚨
We have recently received several calls from residents who were worried after getting scam calls or messages claiming they have an outstanding warrant for their arrest.
In these scams, the caller often pretends to be a law enforcement officer or claims to represent various department officials. They may provide a false reason for why a warrant was supposedly issued and demand immediate payment, often threatening arrest if you do not comply.
Please remember, law enforcement will never contact you by phone, text, or social media to advise you of a warrant or request payment.
Do not send money, share personal details, or follow any instructions to visit an ATM or purchase gift cards. These are scams.
If you are unsure, you can safely verify warrant information through the Utah State Warrant Search at warrants.utah.gov
If you have already sent money or provided financial information, you can report it through the Ogden City Police Department’s online reporting system at ogdencity.gov/1299/Online-Reporting
If you did not pay or share information, there is no need to file a report. Simply block the number and stop contact.
