Traveling around the World: In June we traveled to Russia. Our Executive Director, Varvara took us on a tour of her Homeland. She taught us about how tea is made in Russia. She taught us how they create picture art by combining crushed stone and sand to dye colors and then place them on wood and cloth. Varvara also treated us to some wonderful Russian food. We had rice pudding, toast and scrambled eggs for breakfast. We had Russian version of potato salad and chicken soup for lunch with sugar rolls for desert. All of us had a great time and enjoyed learning about the Russian Culture. thank you Varvara

As Spring starts to give into Summer each year, I often reflect on The wonderful blessings that I enjoy. One of those blessings is being a citizen of the United States of America. As a young Boy Scout, I Iearned about the history, symbolism, care and respect of the American Flag. As an Eagle Scout, I remember feeling proud as I was presented with an American Flag of my own. Over the years, my perspectives on life have changed, but my feelings of the American Flag and what it represents have not. I still feel Pride knowing that the American Flag represents Liberty, Justice, Freedom, Hardiness, Valor, Purity, Innocence, Vigilance and Perseverance. But to me, It represents much more than that. It represents Love & Sacrifice from all those that have given their lives to defend our flag. It represents Hope and Opportunity for a better life. It represents Strength and Unity, which teach us that all things can be overcome together. And it represents all the good feelings of being Home. This year I would like to challenge each of you to do the following:
1. Observe Flag day.
2. Forget about the distractions that attempt to divide this great nation.
3. Take a moment to reflect on the blessings this country and, symbolically, the flag gives to you each day.
4. Take a moment to thank those that have served this country.
5. Be grateful you can be an American Citizen.
6. Be the example of what the flag represents.
