Every now and then, we will get something stuck in our eye. It doesn’t have to be very big to be very uncomfortable. A mote can feel much like a beam! The first thing to do is remove your contact lens from the eye if you have one on. Net, you should head to a sink where you can rinse your eye wit

Contacts are safe during the coronavirus
contact lenses

Dear Patients and friends,

During this time of uncertainty, contact lenses continue to be safe to wear as long as there is good hand hygiene and appropriate disinfection. However, if you are not feeling well, you should avoid contact lens wear so as not to contaminate the surface of your eyes. Also, if you have red or irritated eyes, you should not wear your contacts.

Do you have a 30-60 day supply of contacts to make it through the COVID-19 downtime? We can order and send them right to your home with free shipping (minimum order is 2 boxes for the free shipping). Call the office at
801-621-2883 (Mon-Fri 9am-3pm).

The office will be closed to routine care, but someone will be there most hours to help you with your questions.

Be safe and we'll get back together soon.

Scott Peterson, O.D.

Office hour changes: COVID-19

At Family Vision Care, the health and well-being of our patients, employees, and our community is our top priority. We understand the concern and uncertainty you may be experiencing surrounding the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and we are committed to being responsive to the needs of our patients as the situation evolves.

On March 17th at 5:50 pm ET the CDC issued the following urgent patient care advisory/public health reminder, which included doctors of optometry: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/healthcare-facilities/index.html

As such, we must postpone all routine examinations until further notice to promote communal health. We are hoping to be able to resume traditional patient care starting April 1st, but are presently unsure. In the meantime, we are still able to take care of urgent need such as infections, injuries, foreign bodies, flashes/floaters, red or painful eyes, etc.

We will be available to answer phone calls, as well as to order contact lenses, or to arrange for you to pick up product; though we will ask that you call and arrange an appointment so that we can bring your items to your vehicle outside. Please call the office at (801) 621-2883. If you can't reach us there, you can call Lisa at 801-668-1844 for general questions or Dr. Peterson at 801-388-5484 if you have an eye emergency.

We will be listening to the recommendations of local and state health authorities, and we will advise you of any changes to our schedule.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. The team at Family Vision Care is here to do our best to help you with what the current global, national, and local situation allows us to do.

Thank you for your understanding.
