We interviewed .winchester today for our Gait Guru Members and we had a great conversation about some of the concepts of Interview posting in June! And it's a good one

Trigger points are in the brain, not the muscle.  One of our favorite quotes from Pavel Kolar ❀ With all of the techniques out there we need to understand, we are influencing the nervous system. The brain rules the roost🐔
We have to make the nervous system feel safe.  Once that happens, you will be granted more range of motion to which you can load and train 👍
Homework:  MAKE THE NERVOUS SYSTEM FEEL SAFE.  Find the neurological window that is unique for every client

"A rhabdo cocktail of waste metabolites and by-products of tissue damage is probably why we feel a bit cruddy after biological stresses and traumas — even massage, sometimes. It’s not that big a deal. Massage is still worthwhile. But it is, technically, a little bit toxifying — not de-toxifying."

If your massage therapist tells you to drink extra water after your session to help flush out the toxins-- ask them what toxins they're referring to. I'm betting they won't have a good answer for that question (;
Drink water after a session if you're thirsty, but don't feel like you need to increase your water intake to "flush" anything out.

It’s just polite to offer patients a glass of water after a treatment. But therapists who make a production of it as a necessary part of the therapy are just proving their ignorance.

Sometimes deeper pressure is needed, sometimes lighter pressure is needed. The important thing is to adjust pressure appropriately throughout a massage session to fit each person's needs.

It is my impression that we, in the massage therapy field, are slightly obsessed with the concept of pressure. I hear it referenced quite often in many different ways and it seems to be the topic of numerous discussions. Massage therapists and their clients use terms like "deep" tissue. I
