To honor 80 years of Ogden Regional Medical Center, we’re sharing the stories that remind us why this hospital means so much to the people who work here. One of those stories comes from Diane, our Med/Surg Director, whose connection to ORMC became deeply personal when her mother was treated here.

Diane has been part of Ogden Regional for eight years, and she often talks about how much she loves the culture here; the way our teams care for patients, and the way we care for each other. But in 2023, she experienced that care in a way she never expected.

Her 80‑year‑old mother slipped on the snow and arrived in our ER in excruciating pain. Imaging revealed an injury that needed immediate surgery. Thanks to the quick action of our emergency team and the skill of the doctor, her mother received the life‑saving procedure she needed.

She spent a week on our Surgical floor, where the nurses and techs cared for her with the same compassion and excellence Diane sees in them every day. Diane’s parents still talk about how supported and comforted they felt during her stay.

Today, her mother is fully healed and back to her busy life and Diane remains grateful for the care that saved her.

Stories like these are why Ogden Regional has been trusted for 80 years. It’s not just the care we provide; it’s the people behind it, showing up with skill, heart, and humanity when it matters most.

As we celebrate National Volunteer Day during We Show Up Month, Ogden Regional Medical Center is proud to honor the extraordinary volunteers who strengthen our hospitals through compassion and service. Today, we remember Rebeca, a beloved Ogden Regional volunteer who passed away last month at the age of 100.

Rebeca began volunteering with us in 1999 and dedicated nearly 11,000 hours to supporting our patients, families, and staff. She showed up with kindness, humility, and a deep commitment to caring for others, values that reflect the very heart of what we do.

Her legacy continues to inspire our teams and reminds us that a life lived in service leaves an impact that lasts far beyond a single moment. We are grateful for Rebeca and for every volunteer who helps us deliver exceptional care across HCA Healthcare.

If you recently welcomed a new baby, congratulations! 👶 This is an exciting time — and your recovery is an important part of the journey. After giving birth, your body needs time to heal. If you had a delivery (C-section), recovery may take a little longer and require extra care.

Here, Dr. Cindy Celnik, chief medical officer for HCA Healthcare Women’s Services, shares what you can expect in the weeks ahead and helpful tips to support your healing.

While you are recovering, seek emergency care if you experience severe pain, fever, heavy bleeding or other concerning symptoms. For questions about your recovery and ongoing care, talk with your obstetrician or schedule an appointment with one of our experts: https://bit.ly/486K6gc

At Ogden Regional Medical Center, We Show Up to support the communities we serve and help build healthier tomorrows.

On April 25, we’re proud to partner with Girl Scouts of Utah for Girl Scouts Give Back Day, hosting events at multiple locations across our network and throughout the state. Together, we’ll help address food insecurity by assembling snack packs for students and families who need it most.

We’re honored to work alongside Girl Scouts of Utah and our colleagues to make a meaningful difference in our communities.

As a special thank-you, participants will receive a commemorative patch to celebrate their impact. Head over to Girl Scouts of Utah to sign up: gsut.org/gs-give-back

🧠 A can shift from silent to serious in moments, which is why knowing the warning signs matters.

Brain aneurysms may develop without symptoms, making it important to pay attention to changes in how you feel. A sudden, severe headache is the most common warning sign and should never be ignored. Acting fast can make all the difference.

Each year, hospitals across our broader HCA Healthcare network provide care for approximately 12,000 patients with aneurysms and perform more than 3,000 procedures — supported by advanced tools to help deliver the best possible outcomes.

If you have aneurysm risk factors or concerns, talk with your doctor. If you experience a sudden, severe headache, don’t wait. Call 911 immediately. Know where your nearest emergency room is before you need it: https://bit.ly/4tP3cjm

Chronic stress can lead to serious health issues, including heart disease, depression and anxiety. In honor of April's National Stress Awareness Month, take a moment to practice healthy stress management—whether that's by moving your body, practicing deep breathing or trying a grounding technique!

Dr. Allison Peet, a psychiatrist at St. Mark's Hospital, recently joined Good Day Utah with Kelly Chapman & Dan Evans to talk about the tools we can use to improve how we respond to and recover from stress.

"We all experience stress. It's part of life," Dr. Peet said. "The goal is not to completely eliminate stress. That's unrealistic. It's to get better at coping with and recovering from stress."

Common mistakes people make when they are trying to cope with stress may include:
🔵 Avoidance
🔵 Withdrawal
🔵 Isolating Yourself
🔵 Unhealthy Lifestyle Habits, including Substance Use and Excessive Screen Time
🔵 Misguided Mental & Emotional Behavior, like Negative Self-Talk, Criticism, Perfectionism and Rigidity

What does it mean to show up for your community?

For Rachel Keoppel, AVP of Marketing for HCA Healthcare's Mountain Division—known locally as MountainStar Healthcare—it means turning volunteer hours into real opportunities for local students. Through HCA Healthcare's volunteer grant program, her time supporting her son's high school speech and debate team at Syracuse High School Home of the Titans helped unlock funding for competitions—including a path to nationals.

"Showing up" doesn't have to be big—it just has to be intentional. As Rachel shares, "I define 'showing up' as pitching in with whatever you have… your time, your efforts or your resources."

During April's We Show Up Month of Service, read how Rachel is helping make opportunities possible through volunteering: https://bit.ly/4tMHhZV

Good luck, Titans & Go, Nathan! 🎉

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Kjersti for donating these beautifully crocheted octopus to our NICU. These tiny creations do more than look adorable, they provide real comfort to our premature babies.

The soft, curled tentacles mimic the feel of the umbilical cord, helping NICU infants feel more secure, reducing stress, and even discouraging them from pulling on essential medical wires. It’s a small gift that makes a big difference in their healing environment.

Kjersti, thank you for sharing your talent, your time, and your heart with our tiniest patients. Your generosity reflects the very best of our community and the excellence we strive for every day.

Our NICU families, and our team, are so grateful.

As we wrap up the first week of April—National Volunteer Month 2026, known at HCA Healthcare as home to our "We Show Up for Our Communities" volunteer initiative—we're highlighting one of our community partners, Neighborhood House. Colleagues from our MountainStar Healthcare sister facility, St. Mark's Hospital, kicked off service month at the non-profit organization, giving back to clients enrolled in their adult day services program.

Six months after a rare, life-threatening medical emergency for Bree Christensen and her unborn daughter, she and her family celebrated an emotional reunion with colleagues at Ogden Regional Medical Center. Bree was 31 weeks pregnant with her second daughter when on Aug. 21, 2025—nearly nine weeks before her Oct. 23 due date—she woke up in severe pain. Bree’s uterus had ruptured, a deadly obstetric emergency. Her daughter, Baby Violet, was no longer in the uterus.

Doctors performed an emergency C-section, along with a blood transfusion and hysterectomy, as both mother and baby fought to survive. Although initially born not breathing, CPR was administered and Violet took her first deep breath. She was born weighing just 3 pounds, 5.6 ounces. 💜

Thanks to our incredible providers—Bree's OBGYN, so many nurses, technicians, anesthesiologists and every member of their care teams—both mom and baby are happy & healthy!

"There’s a very real chance that I wasn’t walking out of this hospital that day, and neither was she. And we both got that chance," Bree explained, crying.

Thanks for sharing this beautiful story, KUTV 2News This Morning!
