It's March! Did you know green is the color that represents mental health awareness? Lime green is specific to children's mental health awareness. 💚

The National Alliance on Mental Illness released several interesting U.S. infographics in 2025, which do not include undiagnosed individuals or all U.S. populations due to limited data availability. Mental health is a topic that needs to be talked about. Our youth needs our help, and it starts with us.

It is important to understand how the foster care process may impact children physically, mentally, and emotionally.

The American Physiological Society shared that through these critical stages of their lives, children who experience abuse, neglect, and caregiver mental illness, may have altered brain development from toxic stress. Toxic stress from adverse childhood experiences increases the risk of poor adult outcomes. As ACEs accumulate, the likelihood of chronic physical illnesses (like asthma, obesity, and diabetes), mental health issues (such as depression, anxiety, and PTSD), and earlier mortality.

Foster care can help provide positive experiences, stability, compassion, and support to help these children in need to heal and thrive. Connect2Success is here to connect those ready to make a difference for children in need.

Strength at Home is a structured 12-week group focused on accountability, emotional regulation, communication skills, conflict resolution, and building healthier relationship patterns. The group provides a supportive and guided environment for learning and practicing non-violent skills.

🚫 FOSTER CARE MYTH BUSTER 🚫

MYTH:
You have to quit your job to become a foster parent.

FACT:
Foster parents are not expected to quit working. In fact, foster parents are required to have a stable, alternate source of primary income outside of foster care reimbursement.

Many foster parents work full-time and successfully balance work, family life, and fostering with the support of their agency and community.
