🌟🌟🌟 ONE OFF CLASS 🌟🌟🌟

Class info:
Carnaval de Barranquilla, the most famous Colombian Carnival, offers a wide variety of music & dance choices born on the Caribbean coast. This workshop will highlight 4 of Colombian Carnival’s staple dance styles: Cumbia, Puya, Mapalé, and Champeta. All of these styles are a mix of Indigenous, African, and European cultures. We will start with the traditional and slow rhythm of Cumbia, born during Colonial times in the 1800’s. Then, we will move onto Puya, a very fast form of dancing that utilizes the same instruments as Cumbia but at a much quicker rhythm. After that, we will visit an AfroColombian style called Mapalé where similarities to Puya will be noticed. Finally, we will end the class with the more modern AfroColombian style called Champeta, a popular urban style of dancing. The class will flow perfectly between all 4 styles, authentic to many “Rumbaterapia” dance-related aerobics classes given around the Caribbean coast.

Restorative Dance Flow is a gentle, meditative and breath-filled dance class which takes inspiration from many movement traditions and genres (yoga, pilates, ballet, Classical Indian Dance, West African Dance, Contemporary and Lyrical). The intention of this offering is to bring each person deeper into her or his own heart through the body and breath. We move in fluid and graceful ways… like waves of the ocean and tall grass swaying in the breeze. The mood is playful and reverential. The music is soothing and energizing. You will feel nourished and satiated by your own movement medicine!

One of our family members at Starborn; (Devin Fulton) suffered a great tragedy, the loss of her dearly loved Mama, at a time when Devin and her dance company are about to raise the curtain on a brand new dance production “Hearts and Daggers” sure to be another epic expression of dance, straight from their hearts to yours. Running a wellness center can be all encompassing. Some days being a mummy takes priority. A sleepless night leads to a sleepy day - teething is not fun! A good reminder that we all need to take wellness breaks from time to time.

There are a handful of tickets left for the HOTTEST SHOW IN TOWN - Tonight at 7pm

Starborn are hosting an evening fundraising event starting at 7pm on November 12th.

The evening will include a silent auction filled with amazing prizes for you to bid on. We are working with a local non profit who will be providing entertainment in the form of a choreographed live dance show and concluding the evening with a dance party with DJ Heaszl!

There are a few tickets left for this incredible night of entertainment and fun!

HOW TO DONATE: Once you have clicked the link below simply hit the pink "DONATE" button. You will then be taken to the donation page, you may choose an amount of your choice ($50 minimum) please consider the more you donate the more the studio can provide to your community of artists.
