Flu Season is here!

As flu season picks up, many people are being prescribed Tamiflu, often quickly and without much discussion about potential risks or side effects. I want to share that information here so everyone can make choices that feel informed and right for them.

Common side effects of Tamiflu may include:
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Stomach pain
• Diarrhea
• Headache

Less common but still reported side effects:
• Dizziness
• Fatigue
• Trouble sleeping
• Cough or nasal symptoms
• Rash or itching

Some people notice that several of these symptoms overlap with what they’re already experiencing from the flu itself.

More serious (though considered rare) side effects that have been reported include:
• Confusion
• Hallucinations
• Agitation
• Nightmares
• Sudden behavior changes
• Seizures

It’s also important to know that Tamiflu doesn’t kill the virus itself. At best, it may slightly reduce symptom severity and shorten the illness by about a day, and only if it’s started very early, typically within the first 24–48 hours of symptoms.

For me and my family, this risk–benefit balance doesn’t feel right. That’s a personal decision, and one I’ve made thoughtfully for myself and my children.

Over the years, we’ve chosen to use Oscillococcinum when dealing with the flu. This isn’t medical advice, just our experience, but it has worked well for us and is available over the counter as a homeopathic option.

At the end of the day, I believe that where there is risk, there should always be clear information and informed consent. Everyone deserves the chance to understand their options and choose what aligns with their values and comfort level. 💛
