Taylor Mayd Touch

Taylor Mayd Touch Each Session Tailored to Your Mind, Body and Spirit! I suffered many years from bi polar depression. I had to except who I AM.

Although I tried for many years to "stabilize" on meds most of them just knocked me out or zombified me. Anti - depressants, anti-psychotics was not who I AM. Being a Massage Therapist I learned more about the benefits of essential oils, meditation, and self care. I used these oils and herbs in my bath and body oils. My mood improved and my skin approved. I kept learning and it became a Life -Style . Self Care, Self Acceptance, and Self Love with a little Magic. My Bath Rituals are for the Body, Mind and Spirit. Restoring balance to you as a whole. Herbs have long been used in African, Native Indian and Eastern cultures when pills where not available. All products are all natural and hand made. People with coconut allergies should avoid products.

Practice: Supporting local Black-owned businesses, pooling resources, and investing within the community (e.g., , )
Symbolism: Lighting the third red candle (from the left) in the kinara.

Principle: (Collective Work and Responsibility)
Ujima emphasizes that the community must be built and maintained together. It encourages individuals to see their neighbors' problems as their own and to collaborate to solve them.

Lighting the Candle: Participants light the third candle on the kinara. This is the first green candle, located to the right of the central black candle.
Greeting: The daily greeting is "Habari Gani?" (What's the news?), to which the response for the third day is "Ujima!".
The Pledge: Families and communities often recite a pledge: "To build and maintain our community together and make our brothers' and sisters' problems our problems and solve them together".
Community Action: Typical activities include:
Volunteering at a local nonprofit or food bank.
Checking on elderly neighbors, particularly during winter.
Starting or participating in collaborative family projects, such as home repairs.
Mentoring youth or sharing specialized skills with the community.

Kujichagulia (Day 2):
Meaning: "To define ourselves, name ourselves, create for ourselves, and speak for ourselves".
Candle Lighting: The black candle (Umoja/Unity) is lit first, then the red candle to its left, representing the struggle and effort in defining oneself.
Practice: It's a call to embrace African-American identity, assert cultural values, and build community rather than allowing others to define you.
Reflection: Families discuss personal and collective identity, heritage, and how to live authentically and powerfully.

Families gather to light the first candle, discussing what unity means to them.
Discussions focus on strengthening family and community ties, resolving conflicts, and fostering collective responsibility.
Elements like the kikombe cha umoja (unity cup) are used for pouring libations to honor ancestors.

It's about fostering togetherness and solidarity, crucial for healing historical divisions within the Black community.
It sets the tone for the entire holiday, reminding participants that all other principles build on a foundation of unity
