🦃💛 This year, we’re thankful for OKMRC volunteers — because without you, emergency response would basically be a group project where no one does the work.

Fortunately, YOU always do the work (and do it amazingly)!!!

We appreciate you more than pie. And that’s saying something. 🥧

Happy Thanksgiving!

-Beware of cross-contamination.
-Avoid bacteria growth using food safety practices.
-Avoid danger zone temps while defrosting and cooking overnight.

✔ Did we mention volunteers?

Y’all are the reason we can do what we do — and the reason we don’t lose our stuffing during emergencies. 😅

Today we celebrate the incredible public health professionals who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe, healthy, and prepared.

The Oklahoma County MRC will be hosting our 8th Annual Winter Preparedness Drive Tuesday, December 2nd - Tuesday, December 9th! Donations will go to the Homeless Alliance, a nonprofit that aims to end homelessness in our county. The Homeless Alliance has a Winter Shelter, an emergency shelter for anyone needing to escape the cold weather overnight. Their Winter Shelter has 300 beds and a kennel area for pets. In 2023, they provided shelter for 3,538 unique guests and their pets! This year, the Homeless Alliance is asking for new or gently used: Blankets, adult tennis shoes/work boots, jeans (for men and women), and gender-neutral coats/jackets/hoodies. If you do not have coats, blankets, or boots available in the closet to give away and it is not in your budget to purchase any, other nonprofits that serve the homeless can always use hats, scarves, gloves, and hot hands/body warmers/toe warmers! We will make sure those get to them!

Donations will be accepted from Tuesday, December 2nd - Tuesday, December 9th at Oklahoma City-Health Department clinic locations, M-F. If you end up donating, please sign up on this link: https://www.okmrc.org/overview/event-view.cfm?event=3567
