She had very little support from family or friends, and it was clear how heavy the burden felt for her. During this difficult time, I was able to be present for her in a way that mattered. I listened without judgment, validated her feelings, and offered the emotional support she desperately needed. It was an honor to walk alongside her through this challenging season and help her find strength and reassurance as she cared for her spouse.”

Seeing their relief and knowing these adjustments will make daily life easier reminded me why we do what we do, because care isn’t just about health, it’s about dignity, comfort, and compassion.”

This story comes from our Home Health Aide, Alyvia Sommers. She states, “It’s hard to choose just one memory because every patient is unique, and each visit creates a new connection. One that stands out is my very first patient, a couple adjusting to life in an assisted living facility. I focused on learning their preferences and reassuring them that I was there to help as much or as little as they needed. Trust is so important, especially when assisting with personal tasks like bathing. I let her guide me and even learned how to curl her hair after showers, which became a special part of our visits. We shared stories, laughter, and even had a little fashion show with clothes her daughters bought. When it came time for discharge, the family asked how they could ‘keep me,’ which meant the world to me. It showed that I made them feel valued, comfortable, and cared for, exactly what I strive for with every patient.”

We were honored to attend the Veterans Day Ceremony at John H. Johnson Senior Apartments and celebrate those who have served our country. A special thank you to For Heaven's Sake Christian Childcare and Elementary for their thoughtful gift to our Veterans. Our team also joined the Veterans Day event at Tinker Air Force Base, providing complimentary blood pressure screenings to support the health and well-being of our heroes.
Thank you to all Veterans for your service and sacrifice. 💙❤️
