Our first lecture today was a total hit!

Our goal was to learn to recognize and accept what is normal as we age and to appreciate our youth and health that we have right now- in this moment. Don’t dwell on the past, don’t dread tomorrow, and don’t compare ourselves to our younger selves or our neighbors.

We had a great turnout, had loads of great question, and overall just had a good time!

I’d love to give more lectures- if you have any suggestions on topics regarding skin health, let us know!

Getting ready to try something different!

My patients have really enjoyed the quarterly newsletter The Scissor Tales we started last summer (but possibly not as much as I have 😃) and now I'm going to try something new.

Next month I'm giving 2 lectures to help increase body positivity as we grow older.

As well all know, our skin changes as we age, but there are some things our Mama's warned us about, and unfortunately some they didn't! I'm always trying to educate my patients that some changes are universal and shame should never enter the picture.

I'd like to help spread the news that it's okay to love yourself just the way you are. We aren't made to look 16 our whole lives because we just AREN'T 16 our whole lives, and that's okay!

We will cover topics about what to expect with aging, including what's normal and a little bit about what's not normal (i.e. when to seek a professional's advice). If you're interested, please contact the senior centers below to sign up and verify the dates and times.

Dates:

Feb 3 at 12:30 - Mitch Park Senior Center

Feb 24 at 11:30 - Will Rogers Senior Center

Feeling so honored to have been chosen for the cover of this month’s Oklahoma’s Senior News and Living-

May is skin cancer awareness month and we are trying to reach as many people as we can to help educate them about the prevention, detection, and treatment of skin cancer.

So happy they used this picture with my mom’s gorgeous framing of my TU degree in the background, too. It’s funny how a something like that can mean so much more than it appears on the surface.

This weekend in OKC we have our beautiful Memorial Marathon to remember those taken in the terrible bombing on April 19, 1995. This horrific event affected every single Okie and we still gather to remember those who were taken and those who were left behind in their stead. Okies . I’m not running this year for once because we will be too busy at the expo supporting our runners with tons of fun prizes and info about skin cancer and sun protection- Hope to see some of you there! We will be right in front of this photo op sign!
