Homestead of Del City’s motley pirate crew came out on Talk Like a Pirate Day.

We celebrated with laughter, quirky pirate names, and shared a few snacks and stories.

Stop by sometime and say hello to Bossy McSwaggers, Smelly Longbeard, Stinky Hook, and Rapscallion Swashbuckler.

Herb Magley, a retired geologist who works with the Alzheimer’s Association treated all the residents to a geological trip around the world! He brought minerals from Siberia to the Congo and even had a Megalodon shark tooth! He took the time to explain how the crystals and minerals grew as well as hands on sharing.

The residents were all engaged and asked a lot of questions. Thank you Herb for sharing your passion with us.

Elvis made a special appearance at Homestead of Del City. The ladies all loved it! Much laughter and dancing were going on. Lots of singing along, too.

Family and friends gathered around tables for good food and better company. Celebrating the 4th at Homestead of Del City with burgers, hot dogs, and chili dogs. All the traditional fixings!

The 4th of July celebrates this nation’s independence. The residents of Homestead of Del City wanted to show their pride by creating these little patriotic bags. Each flag is unique due to the handprint of each resident, making it their own.

Saturday, June 28th, Tinker Air Force Base held and Air show. Residents and staff here at Homestead of Del City were able to sit out and enjoy the show! It was hot outside but the aerial show was worth it.

The Homestead of Del City team came together once again to support The Longest Day fundraiser, benefiting those living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. This year’s “Dogs for Dollars” event was a success—we raised over $1,000!

A huge thank-you to our incredible staff, our residents and their families, our generous vendors, and the surrounding community. Your support helped us reach our goal, and we couldn’t have done it without you. It truly takes a team—and we’re proud to be part of one that cares so deeply. Thank you all!

Thank you, Complete, for coming by and helping us start our Mother’s Day celebrations.

Here we served hot herbal tea with finger sandwiches and blueberry scones. Afterwards, they created springtime hats to wear. Creativity rules! They all look beautiful!

Our residents spent some time with Stacy of Bristol Hospice creating these cute little spring animals. They had lots of fun creating them!

Oklahoma football at Homestead of Del City?
The Oklahoma Bears, a semi-pro team came by and spent time with our residents. They played corn hole and just had a great time visiting and making new friends.
Thank you Kevin for bringing your team here. We look forward to getting to know you and your team and are very excited to be partnering with your team for many more activities.

On April 3rd, residents, staff, family members, and visitors all joined in for the Virtual Dementia Experience. Many expressed more understanding of what their loved ones living with Dementia experience on a minute-by-minute basis. Some expressed being totally overwhelmed and stated that they just stood in the room, not knowing what to do at all– they were so confused. It is very definitely an eye-opening experience! One of our residents expressed her experience in the following poem:

No One Understands

There's no one who understands
Just what I'm going through
Loud noises and the bright lights
They get to me, it's true.

I cringe when someone touches me
It doesn't feel so good
I'd rather be left alone
If only that I could.

I hear you when you talk to me
But I can't comprehend
Your words come out all jumbled
I miss them in the end.

My mem'ry isn't quite as sharp
It really bugs me so
I know I used to remember
But now I just don't know.
