It was such an honor to have Dr. Piccininni and Executive Director Creason visit the OOA. We were delighted to have Pro Temp Paxton, Senator Hall, and OSU-COM President Stephens join us for an enjoyable evening. Thank you to all the members who took the time to attend our reception and discuss how we can work together to advance the osteopathic profession.
- President Douglas Nolan, D.O.
As a practicing physician in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and serving as the president-elect of the Oklahoma Osteopathic Association, as well as the chief delegate for our Oklahoma delegation to the AOA House of Delegates, I am honored that AOA President Dr. Piccinini and Chief Executive Officer Kathleen Creason added an Oklahoma visit to their busy schedules.
They have both been very concerned about and supportive of the challenges that osteopathic physicians face in our state. From scope-of-practice issues with mid-level providers, to Medicaid and Medicare pay cuts, and the potential threat of licensing board realignment, their support and advocacy are more important than ever.
It is always valuable to hear the news they bring from a national perspective, as well as strategies that we can use to address our statewide challenges.
As the OOA acts as a convener and host for these visits in Oklahoma City this evening and at OSU-CHS, the premier osteopathic medical school in our state tomorrow, it is emblematic of the constant support we receive from our state association. It also underscores the need to increase our membership—and therefore our collective voice—on behalf of osteopathic physicians across Oklahoma.
