When Wrangler Dunda came into contact with a high-voltage power line, 400+ volts of electricity surged through his body, changing his life in an instant. He sustained severe third degree burns and would eventually lose both of his legs below the knee. Still, he continues to live life with purpose and positivity.
Throughout his recovery, Wrangler stayed focused on what mattered most – his wife, his kids and getting back to the life he loved. With the support of his team at INTEGRIS Health Jim Thorpe Inpatient Rehabilitation Baptist, he met every challenge with determination and a sense of humor that lifted everyone around him.
Today, we’re proud to honor Wrangler as one of the 2025 INTEGRIS Health Jim Thorpe Courage Award winners, a true example of strength, perseverance and heart. 💪

November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month — a time to shine a light on prevention, early detection and hope.
Lung cancer remains one of the most common cancers, but when caught early, it’s often treatable. Taking steps like avoiding smoking, limiting exposure to secondhand smoke and getting regular screenings can make all the difference.
If you’re at risk, talk to your provider about a low-dose CT screening today.
For food lovers, a cancer diagnosis that requires chemotherapy can be difficult to come to terms with. The side effects of chemotherapy on the body are well documented and, unfortunately, they usually are unavoidable.
The chemicals used to destroy cancer cells can have unintended consequences, causing drastic changes in your eating habits and producing symptoms that make it less desirable to eat. However, choosing the right foods – and knowing which ones to avoid – can help make your cancer treatment journey more enjoyable.
We talk to Juli Johnson, APRN at INTEGRIS Health Cancer Institute to learn what foods are best and what foods to avoid while on chemotherapy.

The INTEGRIS Health Trauma team had the honor of hosting a STOP the Bleed course at the Waynoka Public Schools. During this training, staff learned how to respond quickly and effectively to traumatic bleeding events, empowering them to make a lifesaving difference before professional help arrives.
Through a generous Masonic Charity Project Grant, we are providing 200 fully stocked STOP the Bleed kits to rural areas, including schools. These kits, along with the training, are part of a national campaign by the American College of Surgeons to equip and empower communities when seconds matter most.
Thank you, Waynoka Public Schools, for welcoming us and helping strengthen community readiness!
If you are in a rural area and would like to schedule this course or host a community event, please contact us at trauma@integrishealth.org.

Inflammation is a normal process of how the body heals. The body's immune system springs into action when you're injured or infected, producing temporary inflammation to resist invading infecting organisms and initiate the healing process.
Chronic inflammation is not the same. It persists and can occur even if there's no obvious reason. To learn more, read our most recent blog ⤵️
Chronic inflammation quietly affects your body over a span of years with no notice. Over time, inflammation can increase your risk of serious conditions such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis and even Alzheimer's disease. INTEGRIS Health Medical Group Orthopedics Spine Surgery is excited to welcome Evan S. Fene., M.D., as a fellowship trained orthopedic spine surgeon!
"I approach patient care with the same respect and empathy I would want for myself or my loved ones. I believe it's essential for patients to be well-informed and actively involved in their treatment decisions. Although I'm a surgeon, I prioritize exploring non-surgical treatments for spine conditions before considering surgery. My approach involves collaborating with patients to identify the root cause of their pain and exploring conservative methods to manage their symptoms initially. If those options do not provide relief, I then consider surgery to help alleviate their discomfort and restore their ability to engage in the activities they enjoy."
His areas of interest include degenerative spine disease, artificial disc replacement, minimally invasive spine surgery, traumatic spine injuries and more.
Adler Caudle was just 18 years old when he was paralyzed in a motocross event. Exhibiting a mental toughness well beyond his years, he quickly accepted that while he could not change the past – he could impact his future.
Through determination, positivity and grit, Adler has redefined what courage truly means. He continues to live life to the fullest, inspiring everyone around him to do the same.
Join us in celebrating Adler, one of the 2025 INTEGRIS Health Jim Thorpe Courage Award winners. His story reminds us that true strength isn’t about what happens to you, it’s about how you respond. 💚

As the state’s largest not-for-profit and Oklahoma-owned health care system, with hundreds of hospitals, specialty clinics, family care practices and centers of excellence, INTEGRIS is here for you. But medicine isn’t always about caring for the sickest of the sick. It’s about doing everything in our power to keep our friends and neighbors and every Oklahoman from becoming ill in the first place.
The future of caring for illness is firmly rooted in wellness. That’s why INTEGRIS doctors are here for you every day, with everything from the lifesaving care that can restore your health to wisdom and guidance on staying healthy.
We believe deeply that If we work together – and we work hard – we can all live fuller, healthier lives, and give future generations the gift of true health and wellbeing.
Mission: To improve the health of the people and communities we serve.
Caring for our patients is our top priority. As the largest health care system in Oklahoma, we feel it's our responsibility to improve the health of the citizens of our great state. But we learned a long time ago that we can’t fully care for our community by staying exclusively within the walls of our facilities.
That’s why “returnship” is such an important part of our philosophy. What is returnship? It’s giving back part of ourselves to the communities we serve.
At INTEGRIS, the physicians, employees and volunteers take their education and skills into the community to make a difference in the lives of fellow Oklahomans. Their dedication, combined with our resources, helps accomplish a variety of things – from providing free clinical services, screenings and education programs to working with juvenile offenders and providing activities for senior citizens.
We also realize that the health of a community isn’t just physical and mental – it’s economic and spiritual as well. That’s why we offer a myriad of programs that address all of these important issues.
