Heartland CPR American Heart Association (AHA) training in CPR, FirstAid+AED, BLS, ACLS & PALS, & Pet FirstAid+CPR CPR & First Aid training your way.
(1041)

High-quality, low-stress American Heart Association certification in BLS for Healthcare Providers, ACLS & PALS. We can come teach at a customer's location when they can put a group of eight or more together within the metro (other minimums apply statewide) and we provide everything for your training; AHA certification cards are valid for two years. We have several instructors working different schedules so we can accommodate just about any time of day, evening, or weekend requests. We can always accommodate individuals or smaller groups with multiple classes throughout the month which are open to the public at our office location near NW 122nd & MacArthur if you have those that don’t make it into training at your place due to scheduling or new hires that miss yours. A constantly updated schedule of those classes can be seen on our website. In general, we come completely self-contained so the customer needs only provide a place for training. We provide all the mandatory AHA texts and supplies already included in our standard pricing; there are no lists of things you must gather, no surprises later, and no difficulty finding your instructor should someone lose a card a year down the road and need proof of training. Cost is per participant since mandatory materials must be provided and instructor:participant ratios must be maintained. Keep in mind that groups of 16+ training/paying together get 10% off these rates . We also participate as a skills session center for AHA's online courses if you encounter those that are interested in doing a portion of their training online (although it should be noted that this blended learning option does not save time nor money, as that was not the AHA’s intent in introducing it). We distribute cards at the end of class or next business day when full payment has been made so you don’t have to wait 30 days for proof of certification. We can always accommodate individuals or smaller groups with multiple classes throughout the month which are open to the public if you simply want to give staff the flexibility to choose the class that best suits the individual participants. With the new AHA Science out recently and cost of mandatory materials skyrocketing, we just took our first price increase since 2007 and only the second since starting this business in 2003. We will find the solution that works best for the way your company operates whether it’s bringing training to your location(s) or accommodating your employees in classes at ours.

October 28th sets aside National First Responders Day to honor the men and women who act quickly when an emergency is at hand.

First responders dedicate their lives to save lives. They are the people who run toward a crisis while the rest of the world flees. According to the Department of Homeland Security, 4.6 million career and volunteer first responders support the communities where they live. They are firefighters, police, emergency medical technicians (EMT), paramedics, and 911 operators. In an emergency, they're the first on the scene. These dedicated professionals answer the call when a crisis arises, often putting their own lives on the line.

We pay tribute to their endless hours and around the clock service provided to their communities. As one of the most dangerous jobs in the country, the day also pays tribute to the fallen first responders. According to the CDC, 97 firefighters and 155 police officers die each year in the line of duty. Additionally, their rate of occupational injury is higher than the national average.

Often, the very people saving lives are our neighbors, friends and family members. And their families know the price they pay for their dedication to the job.

Thank you all.

🫀 RIP Dr. Lucas
The new 2025 AHA Guidelines just dropped, and it looks like our favorite chest-compressing robot buddy has been... retired. 💔
Studies show no big difference between mechanical and manual CPR outcomes — so it’s back to old-school, sweat-dripping, arm-burning compressions for us humans. 💪

🫀 “Mother always said… practice makes perfect.”
Especially when you’re removing faces and performing chest compressions in the same afternoon. 😏
Don’t worry. At Heartland CPR, we’re not that kind of creepy.
(Although these mannequins are starting to look like something Ed Gein would keep in the basement…)
🦴 No real bones were harmed.
🫣 Just a few faces… misplaced.
❤️ Lives? Definitely getting saved.
Come train with us — it's a killer time.

NATIONAL BUSINESS WOMEN'S WEEK
The third full week in October ushers in National Business Women's Week each year. The observance focuses on the accomplishments of women in business. It also takes a look at the past and how far women in business have come and how far they have yet to go.
Every year, women in the workforce take on stronger, more empowering roles. They run their own businesses, take charge of the boardroom, and build upon last year's successes. At one time, very few women even had a voice.
Today, women-owned businesses generate nearly $1.8 trillion in sales. Of privately-owned companies, women own 40 percent of them and employ almost 9 million people. Their contributions to the economy cannot go unnoticed.
What's important to note are their roles continue to change. When once their place in the boardroom would have been considered questionable, today, it's now becoming commonplace. They're also successful at what they do.
HOW TO OBSERVE 'sWeek
Recognize the women in business who you admire. Give them a shout out on social media. Are they entrepreneurs, innovators, creators? How have they impacted your career? Learn more about women in business by visiting thebalancecareers.com. For women who have chosen a business career path, share your experiences with others. While today is much different from 1938, women must continue to inspire young women by attending job fairs and speaking at high schools. Demonstrate your successes to them and show them the way.
Share your experiences as a businesswoman using or on social media.

A cardiac arrest can strike anyone, anywhere, at any age, often without warning. It’s not the same as a heart attack, although both are medical emergencies.

⚡️Cardiac arrest is an "electrical" problem: the heart goes into an erratic rhythm, cannot pump blood and stops beating entirely.
💧A heart attack is a "plumbing" problem: the heart’s blood flow is slowed/ blocked, but the heart keeps beating.

If you see someone in cardiac arrest, don't wait for someone else to act. Call 9-1-1 and shout for an , start away and use an AED is soon as one is available.

NATIONAL SCA AWARENESS MONTH
October is designated to support the goals and ideals of National Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month. Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is often compared to a heart attack, but in reality, the two are very different. A heart attack is when blood flow to the heart is blocked. SCA is when the heart malfunctions and stops beating unexpectedly. To put it simply, a heart attack is a "circulation" failure, while cardiac arrest is "electrical" failure. In 95% of sudden cardiac cases, the victim is lost.
Cardiac Arrest Facts
Every year, more than 350,000 people die as a result of cardiac arrest. In fact, SCA kills one person every two minutes. That's claiming more lives than breast cancer, lung cancer, or AIDS. SCA doesn't discriminate. It takes lives of men, women, babies, teens...all the way up to the elderly. In order to decrease the death toll, it's important to educate people on what SCA is, what the warning signs are, and how to respond.

To honor National SCA Month, learn ways to identify if someone has gone into cardiac arrest, and what you can do to save them. Symptoms of SCA are drastic and immediate. If someone around you suddenly collapses, is unconscious, loses their pulse, and is not breathing, they are likely going into SCA. You MUST act fast, or you will lose them quickly. Here's what to do.
Call 911. Do this before you begin doing anything else.
Perform CPR. Push hard and fast on the person's chest at a rate of 100-120 compressions per minute. If you have not been trained, just continue chest compressions and allow their chest to rise completely before the next compression. Continue to do this until emergency personnel arrive.
Use a portable defibrillator, if one is available.
Below are a few ways to know if you are at risk for SCA, according to Harvard Medical School and Mayo Clinic.
8 Risk Factors of Cardiac Arrest
Family history of coronary artery disease
Smoking
High blood pressure and high cholesterol
Obesity
Diabetes
A sedentary lifestyle
Drinking too much alcohol
Using illegal drugs such as co***ne or amphetamines

🇺🇲 A little bit of History. The Halligan bar was designed by New York City Fire Department (FDNY) First Deputy Chief Hugh Halligan in 1948 and was named after him. That same year, blacksmith Peter Clarke made the first prototype of the tool. 🚒 A 36" Master Key. 😎
