Today the Oklahoma City AMBUCS celebrated the life of a true inspiration. Dick Nowlin was a shining example of kindness and generosity, and his legacy will live on in our hearts. He was my friend and mentor, guiding me on my journey to becoming Big Hat National President, and I will always treasure the memories of his unwavering pride in me. If you were fortunate enough to know Dick, you were blessed with the presence of a truly remarkable individual. You will be very missed my friend.

In Loving Memory of our
Wonderful Friend!!!

Of all the special gifts in life however great or small, to have you as our Friend was the greatest gift of all.
May the winds of love blow softly and whisper in your ear "We love and miss you Friend
and wish that you were here"
Deep in our hearts, your life is kept to love and cherish, not forget. No more tomorrows we can share but yesterdays are always there.
A silent thought, a secret tear keeps your memory ever near in our hearts forever.

UPDATE:
The memorial service will be held this Friday, the 21st at 10 am at New Covenant (2700 S Blvd, Edmond, OK 73013). Burial will follow at 2 pm at Chapel Hill Cemetery. AMBUCS Big Hatters are encouraged to wear their hats.

Today, we share another difficult loss within our AMBUCS family as we remember Richard Nowlin. a devoted AMBUCS member whose passion for service touched generations of fellow members. Richard truly bled AMBUCS. A 1998–1999 Black Hatter, he held perfect conference attendance for decades until his health declined, a testament to his deep commitment to our mission and our community.

Richard became a member on November 1, 1983, and never stopped giving. He designed Big Hat conference pins for many years, served as the longtime Amtryke chair for OKC, and generously supported the future of therapy professionals as a Named Scholarship Donor.

His dedication, creativity, and unwavering love for AMBUCS leave a legacy that will be felt for years to come. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of serving alongside him.

Thank You, Oklahoma City Ambucs!!! For decades, Oklahoma City AMBUCS has been a steadfast friend and partner to Special Care. Last night, they awarded us $3,500, as part of their 2025 Celebration, and we couldn’t be more grateful.

Your ongoing generosity, dedication, and incredible volunteer spirit have impacted countless lives of people with disabilities in our community. You’ve stood with us, year after year, helping remove barriers and create opportunities for children of all abilities to thrive.

From all of us at Special Care—thank you for your unwavering support, your heart for service, and for believing in the power of inclusion!

What a beautiful and fantastic day to be part of OKC AMBUCS. David Feisal, Fina Nett, Roger Cloud, John Magers and Harris Nguyen made the most of the beautiful day by renovating a ramp built years ago by our chapter in Yukon. We continually aim to provide mobility and independence to those in need.

Fantastic program today from brainxcite. We sponsored 3 campers to Camp Sunrise with a $930 donation.
