Joining a Turkey Trot this Thanksgiving? 🦃🏃‍♀️ It’s a fun way to get moving, enjoy time with family, and burn off a little holiday pie!

Make sure your knees and hips are ready for the race with these quick prep tips:

* Warm up first: 5–10 minutes of light walking or dynamic stretches.
* Strengthen your muscles: Squats, lunges, and glute exercises help support your joints.
* Stretch afterward: Focus on quads, hamstrings, and hip flexors to prevent stiffness.
* Wear supportive shoes: Proper footwear reduces impact on your knees and hips.
* Listen to your body: Don’t push through pain—ease in gradually if you’re new to running.

At SOS, we help you stay active and pain-free so you can enjoy the holiday dash—without missing a step!

The mind–body connection plays a major role in how we experience chronic pain. When pain levels rise, stress often increases too. That stress can create muscle tension, which then makes the pain even worse — creating a cycle that’s hard to break.

At SOS, we help patients understand this connection and explore treatments and habits that can reduce tension, support healing, and improve overall well-being.

❄️💪 Frozen shoulder, or adhesive capsulitis, is a painful condition that limits shoulder movement. It’s most common in women aged 40–60 and can develop after shoulder injuries, surgery, prolonged immobilization, or certain health conditions like diabetes, thyroid disorders, Parkinson’s, and heart disease.

Symptoms include pain, stiffness, and difficulty moving your shoulder. Treatments include anti-inflammatory medications, steroid injections, and sometimes surgery to remove scar tissue and release tight ligaments. Physical therapy is important to regain strength and full motion.

If your shoulder is stiff or painful, don’t wait—call us today! 📞 405-632-4468

Did you know not all fractures are the same? Some can heal with a simple cast, while others may need surgery.

🔹Stable Fracture – The bone stays aligned and needs to be immobilized.
🔹Comminuted Fracture – The bone breaks into multiple pieces and often requires surgical repair.
🔹Open Fracture – The bone pierces the skin and needs immediate medical attention.
🔹Non-Union Fracture – A broken bone that doesn’t heal properly without intervention.

If you’ve experienced a fracture or bone injury, Dr. Sands offers expert trauma care to help you recover safely and effectively!

As the days get shorter and the temperatures drop, it’s easy to stay cozy indoors — but your joints still need to move! 🦴💙

Even light activity like stretching, walking, or gentle yoga can help keep your joints healthy, flexible, and pain-free all season long.

Stay warm, stay active, and keep moving — your body will thank you! 💪

A sprain occurs when the ligaments that support your ankle are stretched or torn, often from rolling or twisting your foot unexpectedly.

🔹 Symptoms may include:
• Pain, swelling, or bruising around the ankle
• Difficulty bearing weight
• A “popping” sound or feeling at the time of injury

🩺 What to do:
Rest, ice, compression, and elevation (the R.I.C.E. method) can help in the first 48 hours, but it’s important to have your ankle examined by a specialist — untreated sprains can lead to long-term instability or arthritis.

Whether it’s a mild twist or a severe sprain, Dr. Langerman and the Southwest Orthopaedics team are here to help you heal properly and get back on your feet — safely.
