Surgery was caring for a 5-year-old patient in PACU when the child’s mom received devastating news - her own mother had fallen at a nursing home and was being transported to another hospital. With no family nearby, she was torn between staying with her young son and being there for her mom— she was overwhelmed and emotional.

That’s when Brittany stepped up. Without hesitation, she offered to travel over to the other hospital and remain bedside, while the child’s mother stayed with her son and made arrangements to be with her own mom after discharge. The gratitude and tears that followed said everything.

This moment is a powerful example of the kindness, compassion, and selflessness our employees show every day. We are incredibly proud to have team members like Brittany at McBride.

25 years ago, the Cowboy Family lost 10 of its members. We will never forget their lives and legacies.

In 2020, the Oklahoma Oral History Program began documenting the memories of people associated with the plane crash in 2001 to continue the promise to remember those who were lost.

While working at the OSC and caring for a patient, Noel overheard her patient share that she was struggling and needed assistance with an aspect of her care. Without hesitation, Noel reached out and quietly used her own money to make sure the patient was able to finalize everything during the discharge process. She simply told the patient it was important to have everything needed to recover well and never once sought recognition for her kindness. This selfless act is a powerful example of the compassion and generosity we strive to show every patient, every day.

Santa and his cheerful elves have traded the North Pole for McBride’s Outpatient Surgery Center this holiday season, working tirelessly to make sure every good boy and girl (and even the naughty ones) is taken care of on surgery day. With gentle hands, bright smiles, and a little North Pole magic, they help comfort patients and spread joy before Santa has to leave for his ‘other’ duties.
