Love a good squat, but is this how you look when going to the bathroom? Squatting while trying to void is not the greatest for our pelvic floors because our pelvic floor muscles are active the whole time instead of being relaxed and passing urine with ease. So put some toilet paper down and stop leaving the sprinkles on the seat for the rest of us! 😂

I love the awareness for for endometriosis given on CBS this morning. I think this was a great little segment to explain issues and symptoms that are related to this awful condition. The only thing I did not love about it though, was that the options given for treatments did not have pelvic floor PT on the list! Laparoscopic surgeries to remove lesions are great and hysterectomy occasionally has to be the case, but symptom-relief with Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy can be achieved (especially if in childbearing years). If you have been diagnosed with endometriosis or suspect you have it, talk to your doctor about your options, but don’t count us out because we as pelvic floor therapists would love to help!

Do you know just how many different exercises you can do with a physioball? Yes I’m talking to you my postpartum ladies or mommies with back pain! 💁🏼‍♀️ working your deep core can help so much in decreasing back pain, but also having less incontinence symptoms. Trouble sitting? Tailbone pain or coccydynia is one dysfunction I see often whether it be from a trauma (i.e. falling or childbirth) or from tightness in the pelvic floor muscles attached to it. By releasing those muscles and allowing your tailbone to be in a more neutral position, sitting (and having a BM 💩) become much easier. Find a pelvic floor PT near you if this is something you need help with!
