Today is IBCLC Day! This day is for my fellow Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultants (but I’m spreading love to all the lactation professionals out there ❤️❤️).

I remember how hopeful I felt the day after giving birth as the lactation consultant walked into my room! I saw her as the one who had the answer to all the things I needed! Lol! Breastfeeding comes with its own unique set of highs and lows and I’m so grateful for those professionals who are committed to serving peri-natal families. I’m honored to be among that group of IBCLCs and CLCs 🙌🏿🙌🏿. Tag your favorite lactation professional and share something awesome about them!

2020 brought with it a roller coaster of events! For Epiphany Birth Services it included providing lactation services to over 80 families, participation (as doula, birth assistant, or student) in 37 births (12 of these births were for clients receiving virtual doula services). I'm ecstatic to add Midwife's Assistant services as well as the title of Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) to the services provided. I also got the honor of forming a new non-profit organization called For the Village established to improve birth outcomes in the Black community. Looking forward to a new year of meeting more incredible families and fellow birthworkers. Thank-you to all of my Epiphany and For The Village supporters!

Congratulations to all the pregnant couples delivering in 2021! I have classes scheduled for 2021 by the quarter. 4 virtual group classes will be taught each quarter. (Breastfeeding 101, Newborn Basics, Preparing for Baby Sibling, and "Pumped" for Work). I encourage you to take a look at each quarter and see which classes will work best for you. So several months ago, in the wee hours of the morning, I was asked to help assist at 2 different home births as both mamas seemed to be laboring at the same time. I actually got attend both births spaced about 18 hours apart (it’s just so magical when the babies take turns 🙌🏿). It’s always such a powerful sight to see a laboring mom who feels protected in her personalized birthing space. I got to meet a sweet girl and a sweet boy in less than 24 hours. So very grateful for the trust, mentorship, and friendship of .mothers.love.midwifery. I feel the same way about and who let me tag along!
