5 Things to Know About Eczema

👉 It’s "The Itch That Rashes" For most people, the first sign isn’t the rash—it’s the itch. The rash typically appears after you scratch.

🚫 It's Not Contagious - You cannot "catch" eczema from someone, and you cannot give it to anyone else. It's an inflammatory condition, not an infection.

🧬 It's a Family Affair - Eczema often runs in families. You're more likely to have it if a relative has eczema, asthma, or hay fever.

🧼 Triggers are a Major Factor - A "flare-up" is often caused by a trigger. Common triggers include certain soaps, stress, allergens (like pollen), and even changes in the Oklahoma weather.

⚕️ YOU HAVE OPTIONS - You don't have to "just live with it." Unity Clinical Research is currently enrolling for paid clinical studies for eczema, right here in Oklahoma City.

Thanks to a clinical trial conducted by Roche, the FDA just approved a new blood test for Alzheimer's disease.

The first of its kind available in a primary care setting, the new test will help people avoid invasive spinal taps or expensive PET scans.

This is a win for medical research as the new test will improve patient selection for future studies, lead to better-defined study populations and lower trial failure rates.

Clinical trials matter the most to little hands.

Every therapy we have today, from polio to smallpox to modern treatments for cancer and heart disease, exists because people volunteered for a clinical study. They did it for their children, their grandchildren, and for a world they might not even live to see.

The research we do today is our gift to the future. It’s our way of holding the hands of future generations, ensuring longer, healthier lives.

Game-changing Research in Tulsa May Transform Opioid Overdose Treatment
A new collaboration between Tulsa's own National Center for Wellness and Recovery and the University of Arizona is developing a molecule that could be a longer-lasting, single-dose antidote to opioid overdoses.
With synthetic opioids like fentanyl being up to 100 times more potent than morphine, current treatments like naloxone often require multiple doses to be effective. In 2024 alone, over 50,000 Americans died from opioid overdoses.
This new molecule, NCWR-10, is a long-acting antagonist that has shown promise in early research by working as quickly as naloxone but lasting much longer.
As Don Kyle, CEO of the National Center for Wellness and Recovery, stated, "There is an urgent need to combat fentanyl overdose on the frontlines of the crisis. Our unique partnership... offers hope for a more efficient and effective means of preventing fentanyl overdoses."
The project is now moving toward human clinical trials, representing a critical step forward in saving lives.
