Every year, hundreds of Oklahomans line up before dawn at the location where the Oklahoma Mission of Mercy (OkMOM) will be held.

They’re not waiting for a concert or a big sale.

They’re in line because they’re in pain, can’t afford care, and this may be their only chance to see a dentist.

💔 1 in 3 Oklahomans struggles to afford dental care.
💔 In some rural counties, there’s not a single practicing dentist.
💔 OkMOM, has already provided $16.4 million in free care to more than 19,000 patients since 2010.

Behind every number is a person: a mom who can finally eat without pain, a veteran who smiles again, a child who doesn’t have to miss school because of a toothache.

That’s why OkMOM matters.

It’s hope.
It’s dignity.
It’s neighbors caring for neighbors.

👉 February 6 & 7, 2026, we’ll once again bring together 400+ Oklahoma dentists and 1,000 community volunteers to change lives in just two days.
Because no one should have to live with the pain of untreated dental disease.

✨ Join the Journey to Enid. Be part of the story.

ODF Staff Highlight

John Wilguess, Executive Director

How Long You’ve Been With the ODF: 14 years

Favorite Part of Your Job: watching patients respond when they first get on board a MobileSmiles clinic because they are usually afraid or they think it will be “less than” what they might see in a traditional setting. Then, to see patients who are terrified of the dentist, meet our team, be treated with dignity and respect and are no longer afraid walking out of the operatory with a (sometimes bloody and/or crooked smile) and a confidence in their eyes that we helped them in a way that exceeded their expectations. Makes me so happy to see the success of our program in the eyes of our patients.

Also, being able to see our entire team working through the Oklahoma Mission of Mercy - the combined attitude of “helping in any way I can” is so evident. It assures me that we have the right people to make a difference in lives of patients who come in contact with us through any route.

Interesting Fact About John: I like to cook, garden, travel, foster puppies, and spend time with my family in all of those areas. Two weird things: I once played basketball against Larry Bird (long story) and I have a school named after me in Mombasa, Kenya because of the work I do with my congregation and outreach in that part of the world.

Thanks John, for all you do for Oklahomans across the state!

Did you see our post about Sooner Stand Down 2025? Hear from ODF Executive John Wilguess share more about the experience!

Last week I had the honor of seeing our MobileSmiles team at the OKC Veteran’s Stand Down - an event built around one purpose: taking care of veterans who are homeless or facing overwhelming need. Connie Abundis, Jesenia Hernandez and Patrick Brown were there very early and cared for everyone who came aboard.

Walking into that space, your heart just cracks open. So many men and women who wore the uniform, who carried burdens most of us will never know, now struggling just to survive. They sacrificed for us, for our country - and yet too many are left behind when it comes to basic human needs.

What struck me most was the unity and gratitude. Dozens of groups showed up - each bringing what they could, each doing their part. MobileSmiles was just one piece of that puzzle, but we were able to provide something that’s often one of the hardest health services for the homeless to access: dental care. When you can relieve someone’s pain, restore a smile, or simply treat them with dignity—it matters. And the veteran's said "thank you" in so many kind and appreciative ways.

I’m so grateful for our close partnership with D-DENT, (Dentists for the Disabled & Elderly in Need of Treatment). Together, we are able to step into places like this and meet people where they are, with compassion and care.

These moments remind me why MobileSmiles exists. It’s not just about teeth - it’s about humanity.

If this moves you the way it moved me, please consider giving. Even a small gift can take someone out of pain and give them back their smile - and as always, no patient is ever charged for their treatment:
