Thank you Mayor Holt!

Today (3-21) is World Down Syndrome Day! I’m wearing my silly socks given to me by the Down Syndrome Association of Central Oklahoma. The Down Syndrome community wears silly socks on 3-21 because socks resemble chromosomes, and Down Syndrome occurs due to a third copy of the 21st chromosome.

“One OKC” means that all residents are included in our city’s story. I’m proud that in OKC, so many work to ensure that all residents have equal opportunity. And today is a day to celebrate the work of our Down Syndrome community!

This looks like some great information!

What should the future of Downtown Oklahoma City look like?

The City of OKC is working on a Downtown Strategic Plan that will guide how Downtown and Bricktown grow over the coming years. The plan will focus on improving connectivity, supporting redevelopment, increasing residential density, expanding public spaces and strengthening tourism.

As part of the process, the City is gathering community feedback.

Congratulations Captain George!!!

We’re proud to share that our own, Captain Audrea George, has been recognized by the Down Syndrome Association of Central Oklahoma as a Community Supporter for her work with DSACO through our Special Events Unit.

Captain George's dedication goes beyond the badge. Through her time, energy, and heart, she’s helped create meaningful moments for individuals and families in our community — the kind of moments that remind us why service matters.

Congrats!

💵 Disasters are stressful enough without the added worry of unexpected costs. One way to prepare is by setting aside a little money each month for emergencies. Even a small amount—just a few dollars—can make a big difference when you need gas, lodging, or supplies after a disaster.

Tip: Keep some cash in small bills as part of your emergency kit. Power outages or network failures can make credit and debit cards useless.

Saving now = peace of mind later. Your future self will thank you!

💪 you can do this. You can be your family's hero!!!🦸‍♂️ 🦸🏻‍♀️👩‍🦽👨‍🦯🦮🧑🏽‍🦼♿

Pets are family too! 🐾 Don’t forget to pack for them when you build your emergency kit. Include food, water, bowls, leashes, medication, and comfort items like a toy or blanket. In an emergency, having these items ready keeps everyone—two- or four-legged—safe and cared for.

🧰 An emergency kit is your lifeline in a disaster. Start with the basics: water (1 gallon per person per day), non-perishable food, flashlight, extra batteries, first aid kit, and medications. Add copies of important documents and cash in small bills. The time to prepare is now!
