💵 Disasters are stressful enough without the added worry of unexpected costs. One way to prepare is by setting aside a little money each month for emergencies. Even a small amount—just a few dollars—can make a big difference when you need gas, lodging, or supplies after a disaster.

Tip: Keep some cash in small bills as part of your emergency kit. Power outages or network failures can make credit and debit cards useless.

Saving now = peace of mind later. Your future self will thank you!

✅ Dog - go kit!
✅ Car - go kit!
✅ Personal and family go kit!

💪 you can do this. You can be your family's hero!!!🦸‍♂️ 🦸🏻‍♀️👩‍🦽👨‍🦯🦮🧑🏽‍🦼♿

Pets are family too! 🐾 Don’t forget to pack for them when you build your emergency kit. Include food, water, bowls, leashes, medication, and comfort items like a toy or blanket. In an emergency, having these items ready keeps everyone—two- or four-legged—safe and cared for.

🧰 An emergency kit is your lifeline in a disaster. Start with the basics: water (1 gallon per person per day), non-perishable food, flashlight, extra batteries, first aid kit, and medications. Add copies of important documents and cash in small bills. The time to prepare is now!

September is National Preparedness Month. When you're prepared for any disaster or situation, you empower yourself and your family to weather the storm! Knowing your needs if there is no power or food is the key.

September is National Preparedness Month!

🚨 Emergencies can strike without warning. Take time this week to talk with your family about where to go and how to get in touch if you are separated. Write down important numbers, choose a meeting spot, and practice your plan together. Being prepared today makes tomorrow safer. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Temperatures will be dangerously hot this week in Oklahoma. These free, air-conditioned public spaces—like libraries, community centers, and shelters—are open to help you stay cool and safe during extreme heat.

Find a Cooling Center near you by dialing 2-1-1 or checking with your local library or city website like these:

High temps can be dangerous—especially for kids, older adults, and those with health conditions.
✅ Stay hydrated
✅ Rest in the shade
✅ Know when it’s time to get help
⚠️ Don’t wait until it’s an emergency. Cool down, stay safe. 💙

Take the 2025 Pedestrian Safety Survey
Here’s an opportunity to improve our community’s safety from your laptop or phone! Our partners at local agencies are researching attitudes and perceptions of traffic and pedestrian safety with a brief survey. It’s such an important topic that impacts us all, so if you walk, bike, drive or use features like sidewalks, please take 5 minutes to complete the survey. What they learn from you will help improve our community’s safety, and that’s a big win! We all share the responsibility to keep our roads safe, so we hope you will take a few moments out of your day to weigh in. The survey is divided into three brief sections, and we invite you to share your experiences on the road by car, on bikes, on foot or via mobility devices. This survey does not ask for any identifying information and all responses are totally anonymous. So, chime in!
