🧠 Reduce stress
💛 Improve mood
🌿 Support emotional balance
🤍 Build self-compassion

Small moments on your mat add up.
Even one class a week can make a difference.

See you soon. 🤍

Teacher tip Tuesday 🔥 Emily here to fill you in on how to forward fold.

Sweep your hands to the sky, bring them to meet up overhead, sliding hands down through heart center. Let your hands come down to the ground either onto your mat or some yoga blocks (something to bring the ground up to you). Bring a generous bend in your knees, let your belly rest on your thighs.

Your forward fold isn't about straight legs, it's all about a long spine.

Then once you make it down to the ground, lots of options, you can try crawling your hands over to the right, and then to the left. Notice the stretch in the back of your legs. Come back to center. Let the crown of your head hang heavy, falling down towards the ground...try shaking your head "yes" and "no" - releasing tension through the neck. Imagine all of those busy thoughts falling right out of the top of your head.

When you're ready, start to rise back up. Slowly, slowly, slowly. Try bringing one vertebra back up at a time, your head will be the last thing to rise. Soften your shoulders down and back.

Start your day with GRATITUDE.

Grab a pen and paper (a lil sticky note, the back of a receipt, some mail you haven't opened)...go ahead, I'll wait...

Now write down 3 things that you are grateful for. Try small things that maybe you don't even notice anymore, they're just part of life.

I'll go first, it's not hard, I promise. And a gratitude practice has the ability to shift your attitude and how you approach your day, week, life.

1. A hot cup of coffee, the feel of the mug in my hands ☕
2. Cozy socks to slip into on cold, Fall mornings 🧦
3. The colors of Fall 🍁🍂

We’re so excited to officially welcome Emily Bowers to our teaching team! 🌸

Emily has been practicing yoga for nearly 20 years and brings a rich background in athletics—from competitive rowing to Olympic weightlifting—to her teaching. What began as a tool for physical recovery has evolved into a grounding, transformative practice that helps her find balance and presence both on and off the mat.

Her Gentle Yoga class blends mindful movement, breath, and reflection. Emily’s approach is welcoming for all levels and encourages students to explore what yoga means to them.

✨ Join Emily every Thursday evening at 7:15 p.m. for Gentle Yoga.
Whether you’re looking to stretch, slow down, or reconnect, this class is a beautiful way to end your week feeling grounded and renewed.

Join us in celebrating Diwali — the Festival of Lights ✨
A time to honor the victory of light over darkness, hope over despair, and goodness over fear.

Kelly will share the beautiful meaning behind this Hindu tradition before guiding a gentle yoga practice to help you turn inward and reconnect with your inner light.

We’ll close the evening together with homemade chai and warm community connection.

Some days, it’s not about doing more — it’s about being here.

The quiet before class. The warmth of shared breath. The gentle hum of community energy that fills this space.

Our studio holds so many moments of stillness, connection, and growth — and we’re grateful for every one of them.

Take a breath. Feel your feet on the ground.

You’re part of something beautiful. 💛 www.suryayogakc.com/schedule

You don’t always need to push harder.
You don’t have to earn your rest.

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is pause.
Take one deep breath.
Feel your feet on the ground.
Let your shoulders drop.

You are allowed to slow down — even here, even now. 🌙

🕯️ From all of us at Surya Yoga — may you find a moment of stillness in your day.
