As a self‑advocate with autism, I know firsthand how hard it can be to feel included in school. My experiences of being excluded shaped my mission: to help students understand disability, embrace differences, and become better friends to one another.

I’ve now led more than 350 student assemblies across the state, inspiring thousands of young people to choose kindness, empathy, and inclusion. I also speak at conferences and host professional development workshops. April is Autism Acceptance month but shouldn’t be limited to a single month — it should be part of everyday life.

Today I had the joy of speaking with the students of Pleasant Valley School in celebration of Neurodivergent Week and Autism Acceptance Month. Their enthusiasm was contagious — they greeted me with high fives, invited me into their classroom, and proudly showed me their newly hatched chicks. Their curiosity, insight, and kindness made the entire experience unforgettable.

Teachers stopped to share that it was one of the best assemblies they’ve had in years. A special thank‑you to the PTO for sponsoring such an inspiring and memorable day.

This week, I have the pleasure of visiting all four elementary schools in South Plainfield, with Kennedy and Franklin schools being my first stops today. Tomorrow, I will have the pleasure of visiting Roosevelt and Riley. It's great to hear that the district places a strong emphasis on inclusion and has invited me to visit all of their elementary schools.

Today I was delighted to join in the Neurodiversity Week celebrations at Mountain View middle school and Hilltop elementary school. Three separate grade level presentations had a profound effect, generating many thought-provoking questions. The day was a huge success, enjoyed by all. Thank you for hosting me in your lovely town.

How to be a good Influence to people with disabilities

I am a young adult with autism who struggled to fit in with my peers during high school. After I graduated, I decided to write a guide to teach kids how to act socially with those who have disabilities. My guide was published by the NJ Coalition of Inclusive Education and became widely circulated on social media by organizations such as Autism Speaks and Autism NJ. It became viral when the Asbury Park Press released an article that includes a video about me.
