At JLN Safety, many of our team members proudly serve or have served on the front lines. Their experience, courage, and commitment shape how we approach safety every single day - on job sites, in classrooms, and in the communities we protect.

FIELD FINDING:

During a morning walkthrough, our team observed two welding carts positioned side by side. Each cart had both an oxidizer and a flammable cylinder - acceptable when stored on the same cart due to built-in barriers.

However, the proximity of the two carts meant that the flammable cylinder on one was directly beside the oxidizer on the other -creating a potential fire and explosion hazard.

THE RISK: If a leak occurred, incompatible gases could mix, dramatically increasing the risk of ignition or combustion.

CONDITIONS MATTER: In high-traffic work areas, small spacing oversights like this can quickly become serious hazards - especially during outage season when multiple trades are working side by side.

REMEDY: The associate in the area was immediately coached, and the carts were separated by more than 20 feet in accordance with safe storage practices.
