Today marks the winter solstice 💫 the longest night of the year. It’s the moment when darkness has fully arrived, but it’s also the turning point. From here, the light begins its slow return.

In many traditions, and in yoga as well, winter isn’t a time to stop moving, but it is a time to move differently. Movement in winter isn’t about pushing or changing yourself. It’s about circulation. About helping things move through so they don’t get stuck.

Winter is a season of pause, of coming inward. A healing season. Not a season of fixing or improving, but of listening.

Rather than talking about ‘releasing patterns,' because that can feel like something we’re supposed to do, I like to think of winter as a season of making space. When we create more ease, more quiet, more honesty, certain things naturally fall away on their own.

Sometimes what wants to loosen isn’t dramatic. It might be a habit that numbs or distracts, such as scrolling, overdoing, drinking, staying busy; anything that keeps us from hearing what’s underneath. Winter offers us the permission to soften those edges, not through force, but through gentleness.

So as you move through this season, let this practice be a place where you’re not trying to become anything. Just a place to notice. To warm the body, steady the mind, and make a little room inside.

And maybe—without effort—something that no longer serves you will feel ready to loosen its grip. Not because you pushed it away, but because you finally gave yourself enough space.

It's the weekend and we're grateful to be part of yours 🙏🥰🫶

✨ Tutorial Tuesday ✨
Camel Pose | Ustrasana

Today’s tutorial is all about Camel Pose (Ustrasana) and reframing what actually matters for spinal safety.

Instead of fixating on keeping the hips perfectly stacked over the knees, we focused on something far more important:
➡️ a steady, supported low back
➡️ true thoracic extension through the upper and mid-spine
➡️ stability and continuity throughout the entire spine

When the low back stays organized and supported, the heart opening comes from the thoracic spine—where extension is designed to happen—rather than collapsing into the lumbar spine.

In the video, I demonstrate multiple ways to enter Camel so you can prioritize spinal integrity, strength, and awareness over forcing a shape. The pose should feel expansive, not compressive.

As always, your practice should work with your body, not against it.
