When therapists talk about “doing the work,” we’re not talking about trying harder or fixing yourself.

We’re talking about learning how to regulate instead of react,
communicate instead of assume,
and take responsibility for your part,
even when it’s uncomfortable.

Most of this work happens after you leave the office. It happens in your relationships. It can look like the pause before responding, listening instead of talking or the willingness to repair instead of defend.

Doing the work isn’t about perfection.
It’s about awareness, accountability, and learning new ways of showing up.
