Pain running down the back of your leg? It may not always be sciatica.
Sometimes the symptoms people think are coming from the Sciatic nerve can actually be coming from the Posterior femoral cutaneous nerve.
This nerve runs along the back of the thigh and can create symptoms that feel very similar to sciatic pain when it becomes irritated or restricted by surrounding soft tissue.
When we identify irritation along this nerve, treatment focuses on freeing up the surrounding tissue so the nerve can move normally again, which can help reduce the tension and discomfort traveling down the back of the leg.
