As a retired police officer, paramedic, and Marine Corps Infantryman I understand the stigma associated with asking for help. I also experienced the burdern of professioanl trauma and thought it was normal to suffer in silence. I believed that so many others had the same thoughts and beliefs that I did, that my thoughts and behaviors were acceptable. I learned, almost too late, that my thoughts and behaviors were unhealthy and that I could change them by talking to someone who had shared my experiences and was professionally trained and passionate about helping me move forward in a positive way without focusing on my trauma.
