Trauma doesn’t always look like what we expect.
Sometimes it shows up as shutting down during conflict.
Sometimes it’s overreacting to small things.
Sometimes it’s people-pleasing, avoidance, or the need to stay in control.
These aren’t “character flaws.” They’re learned responses, ways the mind and body adapted to survive.
But what protected us then can strain our relationships now.
Unspoken fears can turn into misunderstandings.
Hypervigilance can feel like distrust.
Emotional withdrawal can look like indifference.
Healing starts with awareness. Not shame.
When we begin to recognize our patterns, we create space to respond instead of react.
We learn to communicate instead of defend.
We build relationships that feel safe, not just familiar.
And that changes everything!
