Throughout March, we’re exploring Play as Curiosity at Artis! 🔎

​​Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics – or STEM – programs help people on the dementia journey by organizing environmental input and engaging multiple senses simultaneously. ​​

Join us later this month for our Power of Play signature event! 🧠 The Inventive Minds Wonder Workshop 🧠 is a multisensory, STEM-based program where we’ll explore light, shadow, movement, and simple inventions – encouraging curiosity and problem-solving, supporting fine-motor skills, and building confidence. ​​

🎶 Happy Hour Highlights at OMC
Our residents had an amazing time at Happy Hour with All Mixed Up! The music, the laughter, and the great company made the afternoon feel extra special. From toe‑tapping tunes to shared stories and smiles, it was the perfect way to unwind and enjoy time together.

A big thank‑you to All Mixed Up for bringing such wonderful energy to our community and to our residents for filling the room with joy.

Yesterday, we had the honor of hosting a truly meaningful book signing and caregiver conversation here at Olney Memory Care.

We are deeply grateful to Michael Tarka, author of One More Day and Forever Bound, for sharing his heartfelt story of loving and caring for his wife through Alzheimer’s disease. His words reminded us all that even when caregiving feels overwhelming, love, presence, and connection continue to shine through.

Thank you as well to Steve Lorberbaum for offering compassionate guidance and encouragement to families navigating the caregiving journey.

We are incredibly proud of our Olney Memory Care by Artis team, who show this same compassion and dedication to our residents and families every single day. It was a beautiful reminder that no one walks this journey alone. 💜

Associate Appreciation Day is coming up March 6. Of course, we need WAY more than a day to express gratitude for our thoughtful team – so we’re celebrating for a whole week! Each day during Artis Color Week, associates are invited to sport a special hue and make our community even brighter! 🌈

🌟 Welcome to Our New Life Enrichment Director, Lawrence Severance! 🌟
We are thrilled to introduce Lawrence Severance, who has joined Olney Memory Care by Artis as our new Life Enrichment Director! 🎉
Lawrence comes with strong experience in life enrichment, where he has planned engaging activities, built meaningful connections with residents, and created programs designed to bring joy, purpose, and community to everyday life. He believes that life enrichment is all about making each day meaningful—whether through movement, music, games, conversation, or trying something brand new. 💛🎨🎶
In addition to his healthcare background, Lawrence proudly serves in the U.S. Army–Maryland National Guard as an Aviation Operations Specialist. His service has strengthened his leadership, organization, teamwork, and mission-focused mindset—qualities he brings with him every single day. 🇺🇸🚁
When he’s not planning activities, you can find Lawrence staying active, working out, following sports (especially soccer, football, baseball, and basketball), exploring new music, or enjoying the outdoors. ⚽🏈🎧🌳
Lawrence is excited to get to know each resident, learn your interests, and create a vibrant, engaging calendar full of fun, laughter, and memorable moments. Let’s give him the warmest welcome!
