The Tradition of Finnish Pine Tar
For centuries, pine tar has been revered across Scandinavia—especially in Finland—for its powerful skin-soothing properties and deep connection to forest life. Traditionally made by slow-burning pine roots, this rich, smoky substance has been used in salves, soaps, and saunas to treat eczema, rashes, bug bites, and irritated skin. Naturally antiseptic and anti-inflammatory, pine tar remains a trusted remedy passed down through generations.
Hjalmar’s Pine Tar Soap
15% Pine Tar | Tallow, Coconut, Olive & Shea
Named for my great-grandfather Hjalmar, who emigrated from Finland to Willapa Bay in the late 1800s, this soap honors old-world traditions with a bold 15% authentic pine tar content. It’s a deeply cleansing bar made with tallow, coconut oil, olive oil, and shea butter, designed for mechanics, fishermen, gardeners, and anyone whose hands tell a story. Smoky, rugged, and restorative—it’s soap that does the work.
Uses: Dry skin, bug bites, eczema, heavy-duty hand washing.
Esther’s Pine Tar & Lavender Soap
5% Pine Tar | Lavender & Chamomile
Named for Hjalmar’s daughter and my grandmother, Esther’s soap brings a gentler touch to the family tradition. With 5% pine tar and soothing lavender and chamomile essential oils, it’s perfect for sensitive skin, children, or daily use. Still crafted with the same nourishing base oils and butters, it offers a lighter scent and softer cleanse, echoing a quieter strength passed down through generations.
Uses: Sensitive skin, daily cleansing, mild irritation relief.
Handmade in small batches near Willapa Bay.
