What actually makes a life feel meaningful and whole?

Many of us move through life focused on responsibilities, goals, and the next thing that needs our attention.

But occasionally we pause and ask deeper questions.

In this week’s blog and podcast, I explore an elegant framework from yoga philosophy known as the Four Aims of Life.

It describes four elements that help create a balanced and meaningful life:

• Purpose and contribution
• Stability and resources
• Joy and enjoyment
• Inner freedom and spaciousness

I often imagine them as four petals of a flower. When all four are present, life tends to feel more balanced.

When one is missing, something can feel slightly out of alignment.

This framework offers a simple but powerful way to reflect on where you are right now.

Which of these four aims feels most present in your life today?
And which one might be quietly asking for more attention?

Midlife has a way of inviting deeper questions.

I’m writing this week’s newsletter from Peru, where I’m spending the month on a personal retreat—stepping away from my usual rhythms to reflect, write, and begin a new book project.

This pause has brought a simple question to the surface:

What truly matters now?

In this week’s newsletter, I share a framework from yoga philosophy known as the Four Aims of Life—a beautiful way of understanding the balance between purpose, stability, joy, and inner freedom.

It’s a lens that can help us reflect on where we are in life and what might be asking for more attention.

You might simply ask yourself:

I’m at a time in my life when…

Sometimes that question opens more clarity than we expect.

Inside the Vibrant Soulful Membership, March begins our exploration of:

Awaken What Is Essential

Midlife is a powerful threshold.

It asks:
Where is your energy going?
What feels aligned?
What is ready to deepen?
What is ready to be released?

This month we’re clarifying purpose, aligning time and energy, and strengthening practices that support meaningful living.

Not reinvention.

Refinement.

If you feel the quiet nudge toward clarity, March is a beautiful place to begin.

We’re in that seasonal shift — winter not quite finished, spring not quite begun.

This is not the time for extreme cleanses or drastic resets.

It’s a time for:
• Warm, nutrient-dense meals
• Gentle seasonal transitions
• Listening to what your body actually needs

I’m sharing a guide to late winter and early spring nourishment — including a few favorite recipes that feel grounding and energizing at the same time.

Late winter still asks for care.

I am getting over a seasonal cold and I am reminded how important simple practices are — rest, warmth, nourishment, herbal teas.

Vitality is sacred infrastructure.

Midlife is where vitality and wisdom meet — and that includes knowing when to slow down and restore.

If you’re navigating a winter bug, I’m sharing trusted natural remedies here:

I’ve been journaling since I was eight years old.

Tiny lock-and-key diary. Spiral notebooks. Pretty notebooks. I now have dozens of filled volumes.

It has been one of the most consistent health practices of my life.

Because it works!

In this week’s featured blog and podcast, I outline six journaling strategies that support:

• Mental clarity
• Emotional resilience
• Physical wellbeing
• Self-awareness
• Momentum during change

Journaling isn’t about writing beautifully.

It’s about getting your thoughts, emotions, and creative ideas onto a page.
Making sense of yourself.
Feeling honestly.
Listening inward.

If you’ve been meaning to return to it — consider this your nudge.

Belonging isn’t only about community.

It’s also about belonging to yourself.

Last week my newsletter explored belonging outwardly — to one another, to something larger.

This week, I’m turning the lens inward.

For me, journaling has been one of the most enduring practices of self-study. A quiet way to process emotion. To make sense of change. To remember who I am.

In the yoga tradition, this is called svadhyaya — self-study.

It’s not self-criticism.
It’s not self-improvement.
It’s self-relationship.

In this week’s newsletter, I share reflections on journaling, our upcoming yoga theme, and a new midweek reset class I’ve added.

If you’re craving steadiness, clarity, or a simple way to reconnect with yourself, this one is for you.

This Week in Yoga

Our theme in yoga this week is self-study. Journaling is a natural companion to yoga and meditation — a way to extend the insights that arise on the mat into daily life.

I’ll be weaving this theme throughout the week and even drawing from some of these journaling strategies as inspiration for our mindful movement practices.

And one more update…

I’ve added a new weekly session: Vibrant Boost — a 30-minute midday reset on Wednesdays. It’s designed as a gentle but energizing pause in the middle of the day — a chance to come home to yourself before moving into the second half of the week. It has been a wonderful addition so far.

If you’ve been looking for a manageable way to build consistency, this could be a beautiful place to begin.

Belonging doesn’t happen by accident.

It grows through small, intentional acts —
• reaching out
• listening deeply
• participating
• tending to our relationship with ourselves

Last spring, I recorded a podcast called Strengthen Your Sense of Belonging. I’ve now created a companion blog to go with it.

Together, they explore how belonging supports mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing — and how we can cultivate it in everyday life.

The podcast is now available on Apple, Spotify, YouTube, and Amazon Music.

This weekend I volunteered at a music festival in my community.

Music. Art. Conversation. Shared space.

It was a powerful reminder that in times of uncertainty and discord, gathering matters. Connection matters. Belonging matters.

In this week’s newsletter, I reflect on why belonging is foundational to our health, resilience, and sense of steadiness — both personally and in the workplace.

When we feel connected — to ourselves and to one another — we function better. We collaborate better. We

Have you ever wanted to make a change—and noticed another part of you pulling back?

In my latest podcast episode and companion blog, Unlocking Wellness Through Coaching, I explore how health and wellness coaching—informed by Internal Family Systems (IFS)—supports sustainable change by helping us understand, rather than override, our internal system.

This episode is about:
• Why resistance isn’t a failure
• How self-leadership supports wellbeing
• What makes coaching different from therapy
• And how curiosity and steadiness help us move forward

If you’re curious about a more supportive, future-oriented approach to change, you can listen and read here.
