Outreach to LATE NIGHT downtown Olympia providing blankets, clothing, hot coffee & other basic needs

The mission of the Olympia Downtown Nightshift is to pick up where other organizations leave off in the day, providing late night downtowners with hot coffee, clothing, food, first aid/hygiene supplies and other necessary items between the hours of 2am-6am.

Our approach to homeless outreach is a little different than other organizations.

> We operate late, late at night, bringing warmth directly to those who need it most, at a time where no other services are available...

> Instead of contributing to the cycle of wasted resources by handing out new / donated items, We try to be conscious of our environmental impact by:
- collecting discarded, wet, dirty blankets and. clothing from abandoned camps and downtowns streets...
- thoroughly washing them...
- redistributing them at night to people in need of warmth

This provides us with a constant inflow of all the materials we need every single day to provide warmth for downtowns homeless community.

🥶❄️ Summer nights can be just as cold as winter for those sleeping on the streets of Downtown Olympia. 🌡️ When it's 85 degrees out during the day, the temperature can drop to a chilling 50 degrees by 3am, 🥶 and its hard to carry around a blanket and thick coat all day to be prepared for the night

Walking the streets of downtown, every night we see people shivering wearing the day's summer, desperately needing something to keep them warm. Surprisingly, we distribute just as many blankets in August as we do in the dead of winter. We're here to provide comfort and support, late at night when temperatures are coldest and no other services are available.
