It’s very evident why the Seattle Seahawks continue to thrive.

When an organization commits to elite leadership, elite habits, and elite processes, they gain advantages over their opponents long before game day. Preparation, mindset, and culture separate good teams from great ones.

As a sport psychology professional, I’m always observing how top leaders build environments where people are challenged, supported, and driven to compete at their best. The Seahawks are a powerful example of how culture becomes a true competitive advantage.

Full circle moment. Today I had the chance to speak with the Olympia High School baseball program—a team that helped shape who I am.

We broke down the mindset it takes to compete at the highest level: confidence, focus, handling pressure, and staying proactive.

They got a behind-the-scenes look at the same mental strategies used by pro athletes and U.S. Army Green Berets to perform under pressure and stay locked in.

As a 3-year varsity baseball starter at .high.school, this program gave me lessons I still carry—and now pass on to the elite.

Grateful to give back to the place where it all started.

Ray Allen wasn’t always the best shooter. He hates it when people say he’s a natural shooter because it diminishes the work he put in. kept showing up, refining his shot, and focusing on one thing: CONSISTENCY.

Every day, he worked on his lift, ensuring his jump was the same every single time. No set shots, no shortcuts, just relentless attention to detail.

Now, as he watches young players, he sees what’s missing: the work behind the shot. If you want to be great, you have to put in the hours, build the habits, and commit to the grind.
