Common in some areas people refer to these as "multi-shores", "plywood shores", or "shores with Finn form attached". One application example is if you have miles of pipe to install and you need to use hydraulic shores, these can be a huge time saver! You can use them for deeper applications as well, as long as the shore spacing is still in line with what manufacturers tabulated data states.

Just a reminder that the ends of a trench can cave in just as easily as the sides. In this case the contractor uses a steel plate as end protection at the ends of a manhole Box. Remember that in all cases, You should have tabulated data or engineered plan showing that it is an approved method of shoring.

Example of a contractor doing things correctly. Situation: 16 ft deep and structure 16’ x 16’. The end panels provide proper 4 side protection and backfilling around the box prevents ground moving and/or boxes shifting. Ladder properly installed and secured!
