Hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis) 🌸

Typically, most folks would think of stimulant expectorants for a really wet cough. But interestingly enough, Hyssop’s actions are drying when used long-term, but have a short-term moistening effect. Because of this it’s often supportive for a hoarse voice, dry cough or throat, and lung conditions where mucus has lost moisture, sticks to the respiratory tissues, and is difficult to cough out.🌿💜🫖

I generally reach for Hyssop when excess heat in the tissues has caused the mucus to “bake down,” causing it to cling to the respiratory tissues, making it super hard to cough up.

This special remedy offers relief for these kinds of coughs in two ways:

Its volatile oils pe*****te the mucus, break it up, making it easier to expel.

It increases secretions in the lungs through its bitter action, which helps moisten overly dry tissues. These fresh secretions introduce antibodies and immunological factors to the area, which ultimately helps your body fight infection.

And to top off Hyssop’s magic, it’s an excellent spasmolytic that relaxes tension in the bronchioles in asthmatic coughs, wheezing, and irritable spasmodic coughs.

Tarragon🌿 (Artemisia Dracunculus)

"Tarragon, (Artemisia dracunculus), also called estragon, bushy aromatic herb of the family Asteraceae, the dried leaves and flowering tops of which are used to add tang and piquancy to many culinary dishes, particularly fish, chicken, stews, sauces, omelets, cheeses, vegetables, tomatoes, and pickles.
