♥️Swayze♥️
ADOPTED !!!
8 year old Swayze is a big, handsome boy! Said to weigh 86 pounds, Swayze believes he is a lap dog. He LOVES people and is very well socialized.
Swayze has lived with other dogs and has done well when meeting up with other dogs (proper introductions are always important with any dog!). Currently, Swayze lives with 4 cats. He is great with the cats but a little anxious about getting swatted by one as he has in the past so he leaves them be. While Swazye is a fan of humans, he does not appreciate the energy of young kids, especially toddlers, as their unpredictable behavior and sounds make him nervous. Swayze sounds like a sensitive dude, a gentle giant, who deserves kindness and respect. Swayze will let you know by grumbling if something is stressing him out, it's his way
During the day, Swayze is fine to stay home, managing quite a few hours between potty breaks. He hangs out in his house, behaving himself. When you are ready for an outing, Swayze is ready to join you! He loves going to dog-friendly coffee shops and stores. We are told it took Swayze years to start barking when he sees or hears people or cars outside. It may be in his new environment he reverts back to not barking, but no one can say for sure.
From time to time Swayze seems to have pain in his hips. He is not taking anything for that currently but we'd strongly recommend his adopter getting him help for that. Joint support could help but he may need something more than a supplement for pain relief. A vet exam would be beneficial. Always a people pleaser, Swayze still does his best to keep up with the humans on hikes but he's slow. So often dogs are stoic and they will go even when it hurts. Swayze just wants to be with his people!
This very nice boy does OK on leash. He has excellent manners and knows many verbal commands. At this time in his life Swayze can still manage stairs. We remind folks that as time goes on, stairs could be difficult and a dog this size will not be easily carried up and down stairs. We'd hate to see him lose a home because of he became unable to climb stairs to go in or out of his home, it happens, so we share this for potential adopters to keep in mind.
Swayze is described as "one of a kind"; he sure sounds like it, doesn't he? He's a loving, loyal, friendly boy who will help make a family complete!
