There are significant developments affecting Nebraska’s h**p industry. The Nebraska Department of Agriculture has proposed new rules that would effectively make most h**p products illegal.

While these are proposed rules, not legislation passed by the Legislature, their impact would be substantial. A public hearing is tentatively scheduled for April 21 in Lincoln. Notice of this hearing is required by law to be given 30 days in advance, and that requirement was not met.

Senator John Cavanagh has stated he does not believe the Department has the authority to issue these rules — a position we share.

This is not reasonable regulation; it would eliminate a legal industry that has operated in Nebraska and federally. Our business has consistently advocated for sensible regulation to protect consumers and ensure product integrity.

We are asking our customers and vendor partners to share how these products have helped them. Your stories matter.

American Shaman has proudly served the Omaha community since 2017, and we intend to continue serving you as long as we are able.
Given the uncertainty, we recommend customers consider stocking up on products they rely on.
