It is a moment that has North Omaha and the world buzzing! For two full decades, Malcolm’s name hovered on the Nebraska Hall of Fame list while gatekeepers insisted he was just too bold for their taste. But unstoppable local leaders refused to let this chapter close quietly. They rallied, pressed, and refused to let Nebraska’s own legend be overlooked.

Now, after a tidal wave of support and relentless advocacy, Malcolm’s incredible impact has been cemented in state history. With his daughter Ilyasah Shabazz standing proud and a bust sculpted by Nathan Murray unveiled, the ceremony became the hottest ticket in town and a symbol of overdue justice. The echoes of Malcolm’s voice now live forever within Nebraska’s walls.

This is bigger than an award. It is a victory for truth tellers, a reminder that legacies cannot be silenced, and proof that the power of community can change the game. Scroll on to see the unforgettable scenes and feel the surge of pride sweeping across Nebraska!

Omaha showed up dressed to kill today.

A red carpet. Flashbulbs. Influencers trying to look like they woke up that glamorous. And in the middle of it all, sugar, ambition, and the kind of entrepreneurial fire that tastes a lot like the American dream.

Gourmandise American Donuts opened their doors today at The Daily on 121st and Center, and it felt less like a bakery launch and more like a premiere. American music artists like Alicia Victoria were not just strolling the carpet but working it. Shaking hands. Laughing with fans. And yes, debuting her own strawberry donut. Trust us, it did not disappoint. Real strawberries, real flavor, real presence.

Deejay Vado, the mastermind and the CEO behind this brand, did not come to play. He tapped Omaha’s own Lady T's Gourmet Creations, LLC to engineer a line of baked donuts that respect the craft. No shortcuts. No apologies. Just clean technique and flavor that punches with purpose.

If you are chasing the dopamine hit of sugar the cheap way, keep walking. If you are chasing passion, hustle, and a taste of something that actually gives a darn, welcome to Gourmandise.

Omaha Food Magazine was on the ground today. You will want to remember this moment. Something sweet just started here. And it is not only about donuts.

This makes so much sense!

After two decades off the air, Reading Rainbow is coming back with Mychal Threets as the new host.

Known for spreading “library joy” online and reminding us all that everyone belongs, Mychal is now carrying the torch once held by LeVar Burton.

Reading Rainbow and Burton taught us that books can be bridges, now Mychal’s about to show a whole new generation how to cross them.

Keep your eyes on official channels as episode details and premiere dates are announced.
