A brain injury doesn’t define a person’s character. It reveals it.

The slightest squeeze of a hand from a hospital bed ignited a faint spark, and began Darren Heins’ remarkable journey.

Darren’s final team conference at QLI was certainly an opportunity to celebrate his remarkable progress as he graduated from our brain injury rehabilitation program and moves back home to Olpe, Kansas.

But, it also illustrated the power of family, fortitude, faith, and resilience. We were honored to serve and tell the story of Darren and his family. We wish them all the best as the journey continues.

The Greater Omaha Chamber Young Professionals Summit wrapped up last Friday, and what an incredible event it was!

Bold moves create big impact: you are the author of your own story, and every choice you make helps shape where you’re headed. This year's YP Summit left our team feeling inspired to lead with purposeful growth and intention.

Earlier this month, we had a heartfelt sendoff for Officer Travis “TJ” Brown.

TJ inspired us with his persistent grit, resolve, and his light-up-the-room smile. It was an honor to serve him and his remarkable family.

Energized by Red Bull.

Last week, a documentary crew spent three days on our QLI’s Rehabilitation Campus, capturing footage of Thibaud Coudriou engaged in his life at QLI.

Thibaud is a stellar member of QLI’s spinal cord injury rehabilitation program. His tenacity and drive compelled members from Red Bull Media House in Austria to tell his story. Thibaud’s friends, Max and Thomas, also traveled to Omaha to be a part of the project.

Thibaud will be featured with two other athletes with spinal cord injuries in a documentary in partnership with Wings for Life.

A release date is set for later this spring.

Another successful annual conference wrapped up in Kearney, Nebraska, last week.

The conference brings together resources, survivors, and caregivers from across the state. We were proud to be an official sponsor and represented by QLI admissions liaison, Emmilie Kosiba.

Special thanks to QLI clinicians, Dr. Wendy Sully and Laura Bergevin, for presenting on healthy sexual relationships after injury, and to Oliva Ollis and Kelsey Wagner for sharing the latest and greatest in smart technology resources.

When Darren Heins enters a room, you notice it right away. The light in his eyes and his quick, playful smile immediately draw you in. It’s that same energy that fuels him during his recovery. And it’s what inspires everyone around him.

At QLI, that same spirit shows up everywhere, from celebrating his 21st birthday with family and team members to the work happening in every therapy session.

With his team at QLI by his side, Darren keeps pushing toward new milestones.
