Myth: ABA is just about compliance.

Let’s talk about it.

There’s a common misconception that Applied Behavior Analysis is about making kids sit still, follow directions without question, or suppress who they are.

That is not what ethical, modern ABA looks like.

At Behaven Kids, ABA is about:

• Teaching meaningful communication
• Building independence
• Strengthening emotional regulation
• Supporting social connection
• Increasing quality of life

It is not about forcing eye contact.
It is not about “fixing” autism.
It is not about compliance for compliance’s sake.

We prioritize assent. We teach replacement skills. We focus on helping children advocate for themselves in safe and functional ways.

We’re excited to kick off our very first Birthday Bash at all of the Behaven Kids locations! 🎉🧁

This month our friends celebrated client and staff birthdays with cupcakes. While joining in some fun they are also practicing important life and social skills like waiting their turn, making choices, singing together, writing their names, and helping set up for a party. Moments like these help build communication, independence, and friendship skills in a fun, meaningful way.

We have to say, staff had a lot of fun with it too!
